Did this problem start suddenly? What's the mileage? Like Hib said, if those exhaust manifolds hot enough to be glowing, there are some serious ENGINE DAMAGING" issues happening. Engine should be pulling about 18 inches of vacuum at idle. Have you checked your timing?

Also here a little information to help your diagnosis. The injectors get a constant positive to one pole on the injector when the key is ON. The ECM switches and completes the circuit by connecting the other pole to ground. Thus opening the injector. 40 PSI at the rail is adequate.

I would start by, dis-assembling and clean up the cluster of ground wire connectors on the bottom left of the bell housing and the surfaces they ground to. There's also a braided ground that goes to the frame there too. Clean it up. Many intermittent issues are caused by these culprits...
