It got up to 11C here this afternoon, so after getting back from Toronto mid-afternoon, I got another 25 stained -- 2nd coat. Tomorrow and Saturday are supposed to be warmer, so maybe I will get them finished before winter, if the phone will just stop ringing. :chuckle

Mac, Tell your gardener that I've thought over her concerns some more and I think I'll replace some of the topsoil with mulch......maybe a 24" circle around the base of the trunk. Outside of that circle, we'll plant some impatiens in the spring and water them regularly. Hopefully, the birch...

Thanks. I was concerned about that too, Mac. I checked with a local arborist and he told me that if the circumference of the wall is well inside the tree's drip line, I shouldn't have much trouble. I didn't cover any of the trunk and there are plenty of roots way out under the lawn on three...

Hi Mark, The landscaping is pretty much finished for this year. Just a bit more sod to lay down. As for the garage/shop, the cool temperatures are slowing me down. I'm trying to get 130 of these 1" x 12" pine stained with two coats of semi-transparent, but I need at least 50F/10C...

Well, the biggest part is finished. We hauled a total of five tandems of concrete, cut pavers and clay out of here and brought in three tandems of A-gravel/sand and one (so far) of topsoil. There's 10" of compacted A-gravel/sand under the pavers. All that's left is to bring in...

The building inspector just left.....all smiles. The inspection report reads "No Deficiencies. Good Framing Job!". I may be slow, but I get there. ;)
