Rear brake rotor stuck on the hub - help

Thanks man. I'm putting on 4 new calipers and new hoses. I'm leaving the rotors and parking brake shoes alone since they're in good shape, but I'm putting on new parking brake cables since I think they've stretched and I can't get them to adjust tight enough. As soon as I can get my hands on...

Rear brake rotor stuck on the hub - help

I think the whole street heard me shout for joy when I got the rotor off today after work!! Too bad "PB Blaster" won't fit on a SC license plate. Vettedude73 - I owe you one for that suggestion. I think I'm going to buy stock in that company. Thanks for all the help. It turns out that all...

    headlight problem

I had the same symptoms on an old buick - turned out to be the headlight bulb itself. If you can't find a bad ground or socket, it can't hurt to try a new light. Semper Fidelis, Culprit

Rear brake rotor stuck on the hub - help

Last night I adjusted the star wheel to retract the parking brake pads as far as they will go. I employed the assistance of Mr. PB Blaster, Mr. Sandpaper, Mr. Wire Brush, and Mr. Estwing in the form of my 3 lb sledge. I'm still hesitant to whack a cast iron rotor with a hammer, but I gave it a...

Rear brake rotor stuck on the hub - help

Thanks for the advice. Coupeman - how can I compress the parking brake shoes with the rotor still covering them? The parking brake works correctly and I disconnected the cable so I wouldn't think the shoes are putting any pressure on the drum - but like you said - anything is possible...

Rear brake rotor stuck on the hub - help

Howdy all, My right rear caliper kindly deposited DOT 3 on my garage floor until the rear reservoir in the master cyliner was empty. The calipers are original and at least the rear two have been bored and sleeved with stainless steel by a previous owner. The front two most likey have been as...

    OMG What is This!!!?

I haven't posted this yet, but... My 78 Pace Car was on display at a rather nice concours car show this past weekend. My car didn't really deserve to be there but hey, they didn't have any other 78 PC for the 50th Anny display so I got the invite. Anyhow, my car was on display not 50 yards...

    Brake Fluid?

eants, it's a vaccum pump. Instead of forcing the new fluid in through the calipers, what you're doing is sucking all the old fluid out. As you do this, the fluid level in the master cylinder drops, and you keep refilling it with the new fluid until all the old fluid has been sucked out and...

    8-track seems too quick

KOPBET, thanks for the reply. Things happened at work and I'm just getting back on CAC to catch up. I haven't torn into it yet - no time lately. I'll check to see if I can hear the capstan turning and go from there. VRGSVET - thanks for those sites. I'll check them out and if I can't get to...

    8-track seems too quick

Yours works?!?! Lucky skunk!! ;LOL I hope someone can give you the answer you need Stallion. My radio works great, but not a sound from the tapes. If any of you "old farts" know how to help me out, I'm all ears. Semper Fidelis, Culprit

    Relays discontinued. Now what?

For What It's Worth... Howdy Bud, I know you were quoting from the help or FAQ section of CAC, but I figured I would mention that PhotoPoint was indeed great, but they went under about a year or so ago. Since then I've been using www.photo.epson.com and it works great. Semper Fidelis, Culprit

    oil burning on startup

Maybe what I'm calling white smoke really has a blue tint to it. I haven't noticed any loss of coolant - but I'll check anyhow. Didn't notice any bubbles while filling my cooling system after flushing the radiator a few months ago. Since it's only for the first 10 seconds or so after startup...

    oil burning on startup

And what if I get white smoke instead of blue - and only for about 10 seconds or so upon startup? What does that mean? The best I can figure is that I'm buring the oil that leaks into the cylinders through bad valve stem seals. ;shrug Culprit

    Gymkhana

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I can never seem to find what I'm looking for either. I had actually forgotten that I posted those pics and was trying to post them again. The software wouldn't let me because they had already been posted in in previous thread - and it even was so kind as...

    Gymkhana

It sounds like y'all have things worked out, but I thought I would chime in anyway. I previously posted two pictures of the FE7 Gymkhana on my 78. You can find them in this thread: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=33053 I think the thread was named...

    tapping noise

Stingray74cc, Listen to JohnZ. When did you stop getting an oil pressure reading? Was it at the same time as the failed start attempt? Did you recently switch to synthetic oil or have you been using that all along? I sent you an e-mail. Semper Fidelis and Beat Army, Culprit

    1978 Rear Bumper Emblem

Fishman, yes, sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone I suppose. On a separate topic - what can you tell me about your ZZ4 crate engine? Did you do it yourself or pay to have it done (or maybe a previous owner did it)? Did you keep your Q-jet? I'm asking because my 1978 engine is bone...

    windshield wiper motor conversion?

Yes, newer Sharks have intermitent wipers. I know some 78's have them, but don't know what was the first year for that option. Anybody else have some input? Culprit
