Finally some one had it correct. And not from space either. After the noted failures at the factory, the problem was eventually fixed in conjunction with the GM test track in Milford Michigan and GM tech In Warren, with some new electronics that prevented high RPM`s at initial start up.:grinshot
When you go through a Corvette book and add up those potential HP increases with all those bolt on`s it`s very easy to come up with nearly enough HP to be able to race a fuel dragster. I refer to this type of HP to be bench racing where the mouth goes faster than the car.:duh ;LOL
I would change my opinion to "BUY". I ordered a 63 Black FI coupe, Then sold it a few years later and i`m still looking for it to get it back. White would be a good substitute until I find my original 63.:upthumbs :m
Fancy picture books and web sites does not mean they may have the parts in stock. Many of the suppliers will have to order the parts themselves which you may assume they already have. They may not have a very big inventory. Re-packagers and re-boxers is what I refer to call them. As a result...
It`s been a long time since I bought my 63 FI coupe, but if this car has already been fraudulenty passed off as a Z06 it may not be a true Fuel Injected piece either. I can`t remember what to tell you what to look for, but I`m sure there are some members here that could help you make sure what...
The aluminum block will not come apart any faster than an iron block. Plus it`s a damn sight lighter not weaker. We gave up using iron blocks in Fuel Drag racing years ago. The builders use of the iron block is probably only to keep HIS costs down. :m
I have never heard of shimming rotors. When they are machined normally equal amounts are taken from each side to true them up to prevent any chance of a pulsing brake pedal.:)
After my 62 being painted 6 times and several other pieces repainted a few things to look for would be. The so called heavy coats or several coats make a good paint job, is really not correct. Actually the less you can use is actually better. Heavy paint will crack. First the finish must be...
Sherry, as long as you get the true knock-off wires instead of those bolt on`s it should look *****in {female dog in front of the IN} with black wall tires. Be prepared to work like crazy to keep them clean. I use a small paint brush and soap to get between the spokes. It takes 15 minutes to...
I think you right on the Tru Spokes, but I can`t recall if the Zeniths were similar. In the back of my mind I keep thinking the Zeniths were fine wire spokes. I wont bet on it however.:D It`s been too long ago and I never had any Zeniths or Tru Spokes to compare. :m
Daytons are available both as a knock-off and also like the picture as bolt ons. These are probably not Daytons as the spokes are too heavy. True Spoke also had finer spokes. Old Buicks possibly. The wheels below are knock-off Daytons and a radial lace wheel instead of cross lace. 72 Spokes...
