All 427 L88`s 67-69 also had full floating rods and hard chromed on the pin end with the 12.5 forged pistions. The early L88`s used 3/8 rod bolts and the later ones used 7/16`s.:m

Don`t bet on it! Where? From GM. Why do you think they don`t make that engine any more. The cams are the last to get any oil and are way up in the engine riding on aluminum in very expensive heads. Trick looking cars, lots of HP, but marginal on durability and they know it. :grinshot and now...

ZR1 Vettes have a engine oiling problem with the camshafts. Never rev it up until it`s good and hot. The other Vettes are more reliable and also come in roadsters as opposed to only a coupe body style. :m

I saw a car blasted with nut shells at one of the recent Detroit Autoramas. It removed every thing and didn`t even hurt the stainless. I would have had it done except I already chemically striped and repainted the car when I saw this proceedure.

I have upgraded this piece everytime more HP was available. In 1964, new 1964 375HP FI heads and camshaft. In 1970 new crate 370HP LT1 350CI engine under the 62`s injection. The original correct FI RF 327CI 360HP engine with only 25,000 miles on it is under the bench stored away. :cool :bar :m

The rubber gaskets are not what they are cracked up to be. But 1606 and 1630 performance gaskets by Felpro are a combination cork and rubber and the only difference is the thickness . VS30055C is Felpros cork material. GM also has a very good imprinted gasket with a steel insert used on the LS7...
