    Brake noise from new rotors

Sure. Now have about 500 miles on the new rotors. Prior to putting the miles on it, I did inspect the e-brake per c4c5specialist and sure enough the retainer clip had popper off. It took a little bit of work and an extra set of hands to get it on correctly (GM must have a special tool)...

    More puck stuff

The pucks are only about 2.5-3" in diameter. When you insert them into the slots there's actuall very little overlap. When I painted my calipers, I had all 4 wheels off of the ground using the pucks and jack stands. There's no problem cus the black area is subframe. Its seem logical that you...

    How late can I wait?

Just want to clarify - I went thru similar hand wringing when I bought my Vette and spent a ton of time researching prices. I started out in the market for a 94-96 and ended up in an '04 (not enough space to explain). But I am no expert on auto markets - just giving you my observations...

    How late can I wait?

I think Vette pricing drops as the winter progresses with the market bottoming out in the late Jan to early Mar time frame. But, the actual timing of pricing declines and increases may depend on where you live. In colder climates, prices seem to stay down into late March-late April. In my area...

    which radar detector to buy?

You are rigth - absolutely screwed! lol Actually my detector sits in the low spot between the speedo housing and the center A/C vents on one of those sticky pads that can be purchased at an autostore. Its not permantently mounted or attached with the visor or suction cup bracket. My plan (the...

Modifying center console with Media Screen

Saw a similar set up in a C5 at a show in Round Hill, VA this summer. Owner said he had his installed at a Tweeter store. As I recall, they dropped the HVAC controls down to the ashtray area too. It looked good.

    which radar detector to buy?

Happy with my 8500 X50. Would have probably liked the V1 but got the 8500 on a group buy for a lot less than the V1. No false sense of security here - if mine goes off, I slow down. I also recognize that I still run the risk of getting caught if I can't respond to instant on. But ... its...

    Ramps & Garage

Rhino ramps seem to be the ramps of choice. I don't have ramps but if I were to get them, it would be the Rhinos based on forum. I put my car up on jack stands. In any case, putiing 2x8s under the tires helps both when using ramps or stands. On the exhaust, Z06 Ti's work well but aren't as...

    Removal plastic covering gauge cluster

IMO, its not hard but it is time consuming and care must be taken. Go to the Vette Essentials website - they have instructions on how to install gauge bezels. Its the same process. Took me about 1 hour to get the cluster out. Good luck.

    Commemorative Luxo Blue Color

04 was the first year for Lemans Blue, but it is being continued in 05 as an extra cost paint option. The color is available from Chevrolet in spray cans. You may want to consider ordering the clear coat to go with it. Your dealer should be able to order it for you. If your dealer can't order...

C4C5specialist or Hib, electrical system on 04

This won't be a modification. The Littlefuse product will plug into the fuse block just like a fuse - there is no cutting, splicing, etc. Essentially, you are just putting a pigtail on a fuse.

C4C5specialist or Hib, electrical system on 04

04's don't have the accessory lead. I recall that there is an unused fuse socket at location 22 that has switched power. Not sure so test it first. LittleFuse makes a fusable plug that goes into the socket. Its about $8 and available at Pep Boys, Auto Zone etc. Just make sure you buy the one for...

Mods and their effect on value

C5s depreciate and won't have collector value in our lifetime. IMO, mods detract from resale value for reasons already noted. When you trade it later, the dealer will hose you. Even if you find someone that appreciates/wants the things you have done, they will surely try to use the mods as a...

    Brake noise from new rotors

Thanks, I will check it out this weekend. FYI, I did talk to Sportbrakes because I noticed substance build-up on the pads. They claim its the zinc wash coming off of the rotor surface where pads make contact and is normal. They also indicated that this condition is temporary (stops after several...

    Brake noise from new rotors

Just put on a set of slotted/drilled rotors. They are from Sports Brakes and have the zinc coating. During a test drive, I got a noise from what appears to be the right rear. It sounds like a muted scraping that occurs in cycle with tire rotation (that is, each time the tire makes a...

    Painting Engine Covers

Haven't tried it, but researched it on the forum. Some members have appeared to have good results. From what I can tell, you have to paint the parts with a primer made for flexible parts - I think GM sells it. Then the color can be applied followed by clear. I would wipe down each part first...

    WTB Z06 Fuel Rail covers

Hi- Don't have any for sale. Just wanted to encourage you to go for it. I got them on my 04 CE coupe and the red really sets off the car. Bought the black lettering and stripe kit and then shot the whole set up with Duplicolor gloss clear.

    Swapping to ZO6 Exhaust

Straight bolt on. I did it, am extremely happy with new sound and better look. Its easy - takes about 1 hours, just have to get the car up in the air (+3 ft). From other posts, muffler shops don't charge much. Its just 4 bolts and a couple of hangers. You do have to unbolt (but not remove)...
