I have the rack completely workable and free. I`m going to try to install it with the wiper door attached as this is obviously the way it was originally put together. I had people around at different times and when I was ready to put it back in everyone had left. I saw it was a two man...
he gave me the GM manual for all the 1968 vehicles. It`s pretty thick. It`s down at the warehouse with the Vette. I know, i`ll bring it home tomorrow and we could compare. And if everything goes good tomorrow I may not need anything from a book. But, does it cover the fiber optics too? :upthumbs
I dont have a Corvette with those headers but I do have two early Camaros with the same configured headers including one with Dart heads. Neither set had any installation problems. I dont know if your set will go through the Vette cross-member. However custom bent connectors should handle that...
Thats a terrific offer and I thank you. And I actually think it`s over 40 pages. One of my GM friends brought me the exact same book. His remarks were emphatically dont lose it! :L It`s good but on the wiper linkage, forum members suggestions were better than the manual. But then the manual is...
I located the limit switch. What a micky mouse method to get the wipers to work. No wonder it was scrapped. I decided to attempt to get the wipers to cycle. It`s been so long {35 years} I forgot how to start this deal. I thought for a moment and turned the ignition on, nothing, I then went...
Well I got the door off, 4 shouldered bolts with a 3/8 head. Actually easier than I thought it would be. The rack was approached with the 6 studs, one set at each end and the other set at the vacuum can. The limit switch was unfastened and the rack was free. It proved harder to remove due to its...
removing the 4 shouldered bolts to the wiper door for more room is logical. What is en lighting is that it may go back in with the door intact. The grill is easy but that damn door is not fun for larger hands. Unfortunately I do feel that there may be more discussion over this problem as...
One last ?
will I have to remove the wiper door from the linkage as its quite difficult to place on the rack with those hidden bolts. Would the door have been placed on the rack then assembled into the car originally? It takes time to do that and a assembly line would prefer to move fast and...
The vacuum can is removed and does work in and out. {Checked it with a vacuum pump a few days ago} Apparently I will have to remove the door at this point before I proceed any further. I saw the two plates at either side of the linkage with the 3/8`s nuts removable from the outside, fortunately...
Does anyone have experience or knowledge relating to the removal of the wiper door linkage. Can it be done from the outside without going into the cockpit and under the dash. I have removed the grill and exposed whats underneath but the door is still attached. The problem is that the door will...
The GM pump and pulley has a thin spacer between the pump shaft and pulley. I`m not sure if or what years they are factory on, But the engines are the same for all years until the 80`s Vettes. You would have to use the AIM`s books to see if im correct or if applicable to all years.
The simplest way is the following and accomplished in less than 5 minutes, start to finish. We sell loads of our top of the line alternators and not always are they clocked the proper position. We simply do the following,
1, with a impact gun and holding the pulley with a gloved hand, remove...

Al wants the Olds in the worst way Tom, he had a 57 convertible. One of his first complete upholstry jobs. The interior in the {dusty one} is near perfect, not worn or rips or tears. Car should get a paint job though as it has a few nicks and scratches. but still a great 5 footer...
I sold a product made by Solder Seal, {Liquid wrench/Gunk} called 'Block Sealer" it really works, Dump that in before you tear the car apart. Might just save a horrible job. ie. replacing the core..:upthumbs.
I Street A true L88
After 35 years it`s back together again and with the L88. Completely refreshed as new because it was caught in time from possible disastrous results .. I put 28,000+ miles on the engine using all types of gas. Sometimes driving it very easy with regular gas. Those 28K were...
I can now auggest Al Knoch since a few posts have already suggested him. He makes a special version seat for the C1 Vette specifically for tall people. And Al is definately one of them. A room full of Knoch`s is like walking into a room full of trees. ...:upthumbs
