Help! 1987 Corvette Keeps Blowing Fuel Pumps

It could possibly your fuel pump relay giving you intermittent problems. Have you noticed if it happens right after a rain or high humidity? A relay is a might cheaper fix than your fuel pump. I'd replace that and see if the problem returns.

    Why is this happening?

Either the battery is bad or the alternator. Sounds like you putting on a new alternator, so the next step is to get the battery checked.

Question: C4 Rear End Types ?

A question on a related note. Aren't there 2 different D36 carriers? Something to do with what factory gear you car came with. I think if you have the 2:59 gear it has a different carrier than the 3:07 gear. Anybody know if this is true?

    Another catalytic converter question.

Probably your injectors clicking. No harm. Some years the injectors are noisier than others.

    Hot Cam experience

Doesn't Cali allow the shorty headers? I know they're not much improvement over the stock manifolds, but at least they are some improvement.

    Help! 1991 Corvette Problem

Welcome to the CAC. :beer If you don't already have one, get a fuel pressure gauge that can attach to the schrader valve on your fuel rail. Tape the gauge to your windshield so you can read it while driving and also as to allow the hood to close. Drive the car (or just let it warm up) so you...

    SLP air intake need help

Doesn't the '91 model year have the speed density instead of the MAF on the intake? I know the won't fit on my '88 because of the MAF. I went with an cut air lid from Mid-America and a K&N filter.

Some aftermarket wheels (like a Momo or others) require an adapter. Talk to the manufacturer, they should be able to help.

    GM/Dealership vs. Normal Parts Stores??

I use one local Autozone quite a bit. There's 2 girls usually working the counter and they try harder and are just as knowledgable as any male employees at other stores. Another time when I was looking for wiper blades. They didn't have the ones I needed. They actually took the time to call a...

    GM/Dealership vs. Normal Parts Stores??

My local dealer is horrible. I will never buy any thing from them. They're about 3 times higher than other places and they always tell me they don't have it in stock. If it's a Vette specific part, I'm lucky enough to live with driving distance of Mid-America. For non specific parts I'll go to...

    L86 ?

You're welcome. I've gotten plenty of good information here, so it's nice to be able to return the favor to someone.

    "X" or "Y" ?

That will only work with the LT1 or 4. It won't work with CB's L98.
  17. ZumZum

    "X" or "Y" ?

Your L98 has a front y pipe (from manifolds to the single pipe) and rear y pipe (where the single pipe splits back into 2 for the mufflers). An X-pipe is only for cars with true dual exhausts installed. I know the rear y-pipe with the cross over you're talking about (as sold by Mid-America...

    L86 ?

There was never a L86 used in a Corvette, or at least not a C4. The L86 was a big block, there where no production big blocks used in a C4. The '84 C4 had the L83. 85 thru 91 had the L98 92 thru 96 had the LT1 or the LT4 option in 96. Also there was the LT5 in the ZR-1's

    exhaust question on my 90

Exactly. Go very a "spirited" run with the best gasoline you can find before you take it in for inspection. Have the motor good and hot with all the cobwebs blown out.
