I think I remember seeing BBS wheels on it??
I saw that car in the malcom konner showroom sometime in the 80's, can't remember the exact year.
Their dealer was amazing... 2 stories with all the Corvettes on top. there was an outside and inside to the 2nd story, and the outside had the...
The brakes on the GS and Collector Edition have more beef to them. (fronts only though, the rears are the same as far as I know). The brakes are supposed to be better for heat, and thus have less fade etc.
To avoid any confusion:
The GS really didn't need the flairs. The GS wheels don't stick out without the flair, and the early GS models have the flairs stuck on with double sided tape. the thought from the factory was owners may not like the flairs, so give the option to take them off...
The torch red GS interior is a modified red... The standard torch red (as found in CE's and standard vettes) has red carpet, where the GS red has black carpet
It's not realy cost effective to do the conversion. The LT4 has many different parts, and anyone that claims to have converted their LT1 to an LT4 has not done a true conversion.
What most LT1 owners do is the LT4 top-end kit... you can get that from GMpartsdirect.com
everyone knows that the 30th anniversary is the rarest of all corvettes;LOL
anyway, as everyone has stated... that is one nice car, rare and desireable. look at the for sale section in the C4 area and you will see one with 70k on it for *I think* $13,000.
chances are the side windows will be broken if you find yourself upside down... so, you could climb out just like you probably normally would with regular doors... the chances of your doors not being jammed after flipping are pretty slim anyway.
Why don't you look at barrett jackson again but don't limit yourself for 2005, and select Chevrolet as the make. the 'year' in the search you linked to is the year of the car not the year of the auction.
There are only a handful of these cars built, it is hard to believe that every year one...
You really gotta drive both. The C5 is nice and comfy, the C4 is more of a race car feel.
On a head to head race stand-point, it is probably a 75% chance that a stock LT4 will outrun a stock LS1.
I've had both too.
I always thought the coupe is far worse for wind noise, and general top down (or off) dynamics.
Wind noise itself doesn't bother me, it's the loud drone at certain times in the coupe that drives me up the wall... it seems to be from the pressure of having the back...
from what I understand the race engine was designed more for 'fairness' than power, and the race engines wound up with less power than a regular production vette because of it.... this was to make all the cars 'exactly' the same
This is sort of half car / half collector item. This car isn't really meant to be a daily driver, but for those that have a collection it is a nice 'vette to take out every once in a while and a great show piece.
I can't figure out why you call it a 'time bomb'... Corvette race cars from all...
Yeah, unlike some other engine options that were limited in number the LT4 is desirable...
It also should be pretty easy to get parts for the long haul because the Gen II small block didn't change that much from the Gen 1 so most parts work in both.
