Go to the C5 general discussion area and download or view the C5 manual right there. I had a 2002 but really forgot the memory procedure. As far as that battery goes......well better safe than sorry. The red top is the best and no worries about battery acid leaking on the computer.
Go to www.corvettemechanic.com and see my post on the 2nd page titled "how do you remove the ashtray" There is a pic there for the console removal. Not shown in the picture is a screw behind the hand brake boot that you also need to remove.
Good luck,
Joe
Hi John,
In my case the dealer reused the latches and other hardware from the old roof. There are 2 plastic inserts on the front left & right of the roof that holds the roof in place when stored in the rear. Make sure these are on. Of course make sure the paint matches and according to...
After 1 botched repair the dealer got my new roof. Paint matches and no popping noises anymore. Took about one week. I'm happy once again.
Thanks to all for the replies and especially C4C5 for the advise on what to look for after the replacement is done.:D
GM's "procedure" is to repair the roof first. The dealer did a %#!@ job. So now I'm getting a new roof.
Sorry but I didn't use duct tape, I used clear tape.....less noticible.
My roof showed no visible signs or noises for the 1st 9 months I owned the car. One morning started driving and there it was. Maybe due to the extreme heat we had in NY????
Anyway just returned from a business trip to Wash. DC. The "repair" that was performed has failed & the rain flowed into...
Well I did what I thought was the right thing and I'm totally not happy with the job my local dealer did. Got the roof back with the weather stripping on the drivers side glued under the panel. Looks like they didn't clamp anything while the glue dried so now I have this gap between the frame...
Update:
Dropped the roof off at the dealer this morning. Decided against repairing it myself due to the implications if it happened again and someone or something got damaged. Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't rain.
No previous warning at all. Sat. night drove around mostly with the roof off. Had it on for a quick run Sunday morning. Had the car outside instead of the garage Sunday night. Maybe the hot weather had something to do with it.
Once on the highway I saw the roof lift up at the front center...
Even though I'm not in the Vin # range the roof separated from the frame this morning. Almost blew off on the Long Island Expway with traffic behind me but somehow I was able to grab onto it from the drivers window. Not a good feeling. No recall on my car from GM. All coupe roofs need to be...
I never really understood all the fuss about the 1-4 shift. I've owned 2 C5's and now a "05" C6. I drive to and in Manhattan, NYC everyday. Bumper to bumper at times. When I see that light come on and it's rare I either rev past it or slow down depending on the situation. To each his own and...
