Does your C5 LS1 use any oil between oil changes?

Do you see any pattern. Run the LS1 above 3k rpm, it burns oil. Don't run the LS1 above 3k, it doesn't. Race it, you will burn oil and break things. Don't abuse it it works fine.

Why don't we have a pushbutton manual?

I'll never forget my high school prom... I was driving my fathers 68 chevy c20 with a 4 sp for about a year. My sister was driving an nice condition Chrysler that she let me borrow for the prom. There was that one stop sign that I forgot what I was driving, honestly. Well I kind of shifted her...

    Save original tires?

If you have more than 2000k miles on the car, who cares what the tires look like. If your tires require changing, dispose of the old tires. BTW, keep all records. Bottom line, there are guys out there that purchased their car and parked them. They definately have less than 2k miles on their...

    Tire Recommendation, please

I got Goodyear F1 GS D3's. Love them. They are better in the off chance you are in rain. All around better traction, better ride, less noise and the rim protection doesn't hurt. Honestly though, one problem is the active handling kicks in before sooner than the limits of the tires. Am thinking...

[Video] Lotus Elise vs. C5 Corvette

Wow. I'd love to do that. Secondly, I'd love to know more about that vette. It did not have a rear spoiler like the ALMS vettes, so I wonder if that was a stock vette. In addition, it did not have the rear vent for the rear brakes so I wonder if it was even a Z06. The Elise is a nice car but...

HOW DO YOU REMOVE MOLD? from a cars interiour

Put a ground cloth under your vehicles too. A good drop cloth might have reduced the moisture coming into your car. Plus it will not make your car smell like a grand parent's house. I am glad that your car was not badly damaged. I am sorry that the person did not tell you of the problem with the...

HOW DO YOU REMOVE MOLD? from a cars interiour

First off, lets not make it any worse by allowing more water/humidity to seep in to your car. Park your car on top of a large drop cloth. When parking your car for a long period of time, put a dececant, used to dehumidify closets, in your car. I get them at wally world and hang mine on the...

Just bought a Vette, need help!

Congrads on your car... PS, you might want to consider a different name for yourself as that you now own a V8. Hissing sound from the dash sounds like your light switch vacum hose might be leaking. If memory serves, your lights are brought up via a vacum. There might be a leak there. There may...

Storing a vette for the winter.

I do follow most of the items listed below: http://corvetteactioncenter.com/tech/care/storage.html Especially the check list. I also get the car off the ground, watch your jack points and put jack stands with wood between the stand and the jack points of my C5. I then contact my insurance to...

    C5 Fuel Filter Service

My question is, how difficult is it to change the fuel filter. What is the procedure to change it. Does it require special tools or training. Finally, what is the proper fuel filter to put on a y2k vette (I've got 32k on mine and probably should change it before I put mine to bed).. Mike

Battery insulator for new, smaller battery?

I installed an altima battery, does it need the insulator blanket. I just pulled the insulator off as that the ports for the connections were in a different location and it didn't fit tightly against the altima battery.

Why would you not buy a C6 next year?

Number 1, I am still kind of unemployed thanks to offshoring. Number 2, I will NEVER buy the first year of any model. Frankly, I really think the 2003's are the best C5's produced. Even though I own a Y2k. Number 3, I am uncomfortable about my perceived notion about it's styling and cost.

    Buying a C5

One last recommendation, get a carfax report on this vehicle. Make sure that the car has been well maintained and is in good condition before purchase. I completely agree with JB the two major problems have been associated with the column lock and delco battery. Another complaint has been with...

    Buying a C5

The only recurring problem, I've had, has been the steering column lock issue that has been at best troublesome. So far, the last time I took my y2k in, seems to be doing the trick. The y2k has very little vices and is a well mannered sports car. As they say on speed channel: "Do you need a...

c5 technical seminar, would you attend??????

Please understand my viewpoint. I've tuned at least several cars using a match book cover. Used both baling wire and duct tape as performance enancers. Successfully I might add. I've driven cars using shoe laces for the throttle when the cable broke. My c5 has 13 computers to my knowledge. I...

c5 technical seminar, would you attend??????

I would be there. How much do I have to pay. I want to learn how to better maintain my baby. How to eek out a little more performance, how to better drive the car. What are the true capabilities of the car. Understand, the key question for me is how much is this going to cost me. The benefit...

    MPG Is This For Real?

I average around 32 on trips. Around town it's around 22. Enjoy and don't tell anyone, they won't believe you. Don't forget to wave at fellow economy (vette) owners. Mike

    Help car DIC wend crazy

Was wondering, is the fuse box area on your passenger side wet. Could it be that your AC drain tube is plugged and water from your AC is leaking onto your computers. Or, do you have the original Delco in it, has it begun to leak on to your computers. Good luck guy, let us know how you make out.

    average mpg?

It depends both on your style of driving and the type of driving you do. If you accelerate hard every time, eeking out every last rpm out of the engine before shifting, you own a gas guzzler. If you drive 2 or 3 kms to the pub and back and 5 or 6 to work and back, thru stop and go traffic or...
