    Question for 69MYWAY

spdfrk, Which radiator are you getting? The Corvette style or the generic style? I bought the generic Chevy style Griffin aluminum for my 77. It is soooo much cheaper and it fits with only 1 modification. The lower coolant inlet tube on the radiator is straight not angled so you have to cut...

Update on sale of my 77

A little update, First the bad news (for me) I'm still selling the 77 http://home.houston.rr.com/cjandruss/Corvette Now the good news. The wife said "don't be in a hurry to sell the vette. If you can't get 12,500 for it just wait. It's only going to appreciate. We can swing the payments...

    85mph to 140mph SPEEDO UPGRADE

Well, it came out the first time, but now I get a red x, wassup?

    85mph to 140mph SPEEDO UPGRADE

A little off topic but, Evolution, everytime I see your car I stare at it for a while. That has to be the best looking paint job I've ever seen on a C3 (aside from the sweet American Flag paint job). Russ

Speedo Gear For 4.11 Gear 700r4

The drive gear is the gear that is mounted inside the transmission. The driven gear is the plastic gear that the speedo inner cable slides into. I'm not sure about the gearing in the bowtie transmissions. If you call them I'm sure they can tell you which driven gear you'll need. Russ

Speedo Gear For 4.11 Gear 700r4

Depends on the size of your driven gear. As a rule of thumb, every tooth on the driven gear changes the speed by ~5mph. So if you are 20mph too fast, you'll need 4 more teeth. Check your local Chevy parts dealer and see if they carry the speedo gear that you need. You can also check online...

    catalytic converter '77

If you're using the stock exhaust manifolds, I don't think that the true dual exhaust "packages" will fit. Bobchad knows all about this. He ended up going to a muffler shop and having the true dual system fabbed up. It might actually be cheaper to buy a set of headers and a true dual system...

    speedo cable

cs, You can also check to see if the gear has fallen out or is stripped fairly easily. Just remove the cable from the transmission and if the gear is still attached, remove it. Then use an automatic drill and spin the inner cable in reverse. If the speedo moves then something is wrong...

    side pipes or true dual??

Jon, I looked at a number of vettes before buying my 77 and the one that stood out was the 78 with side exhaust. I have the hooker true duals on mine and it sounds great, but I loved the look and sound of the side exhaust on the 78. I was seriously considering side exhaust on mine until I...

    700R4, 3.73 gears, 400HP Engine = 0-60 4.2 seconds

Ralley, I think he means 0-60 mph, not feet. :) The times seem about right. That would put the C3 at about the same tq/weight ratio of a Z06. Cool site too!! Russ

Vibration in A/C Belt at Idle

I'm with you. I already feel like the belts are too tight, yet I still get more than 1/2" deflection on the A/C belt. I'd just hate to tighten them up too much and wear out the water pump bearings or somehow damage the harmonic balancer. I do have an aftermarket cast waterpump. (flowkooler) Russ

Vibration in A/C Belt at Idle

Bob, I think I'm running R134 but I'm not sure. I *think* they switched over when they did the work last time. I'll have to check to be sure. I really don't know what else to do about it. I do need to change my belts because the alternator and A/C are almost to the end of their adjustments...

Vibration in A/C Belt at Idle

Bob, Unfortunately I did not write down the part number for the March bracket since it was something like $200. Probably not that high but really up there. I was thinking though, since my A/C didn't vibrate when I had it initially repaired, perhaps there is too much refrigerant in there now...

Vibration in A/C Belt at Idle

Bob, I never did get it resolved! My A/C worked fine until 2 things happened: 1: I installed a new waterpump and flexfan 2: I had the A/C system worked on You see, I had the A/C repaired initially and all went well. No shaking, shimmying, or any strange noise. Then the A/C was not used for...

Quarter Master Update, I am not crazy afterall!

Not to be a hater here but, don't you think QM would pay for your out of pocket expense to ship the defective clutch back to them? I don't know what it cost, but I'm sure it wasn't cheap. I do applaud them for fixing it and shipping it back no charge, but that should be expected with a...

My 77 is for sale :(

Just when I got it all running great, my daily driver gets a hit and run. So I must sell the 77 to finance a new daily driver. The details are listed below and I'm considering trade plus cash for a newer Trans Am WS6 or Vette. I really wish I didn't have to sell but the pick up has given up...

    A different headlight question

Well, I've confirmed it. Chris (69myway) among others, is in fact a geniuse :BOW I went to pull the fuse, but to my surprise, the headlights only have a circuit breaker and I wasn't about to search for that.:nono So I removed the lights, fired up the car, pulled the headlight switch and no...

    Vacuum woes

Thanks slydog. I do have the system back together. Now I just need to figure out how to remove the cruise control hoses. I've already removed the diaphram since it was corroded and I figure I'll take the rest of it out as well. Russ

    A different headlight question

Good idea with the fuse. Probably a bit easier than removing all the lamps :) If that doesn't solve the rpm drop I'll look into the override switch to see if there's any vacuum getting there. I'll let you guys know what happens this evening. Russ
