    72 corvette 6000

Good luck, big guy. I'm building the wagon to take to my Montana HS reunion in August (break-in run). Plus, get some of my "stuff" (insert George Carlin version here). Then, probably sell it-cash deal. Hate to let it go, but...:cry I already have 12 cars and need to move a couple before...

    72 corvette 6000

I'm at work-will have to wait a few hours and I'll send tonight. BossVette - I'd rather you got the car. My wife would kill me-she (and my Rotty) loves the wagon... Rick :gap

    72 corvette 6000

Darn Dang-I would be interested, too-but I'm no help. GREAT price. How about 2 '70 El Camino's and a '71 Nova? Okay, I'll throw in a '72 El Camino...;) Actually, kidding aside-would you be interested in a '70 Chevelle Concours Estate wagon with a fresh 383 stroker (so fresh-it's on the...

What cam did you put in ur Vette?

Comp! I'm a big fan of Comp Cams. They seem to get it right. I'm thinking a Comp Magnum Hydraulic will put you in the neighborhood you are looking for. One offers 2000-6000 RPM (230 deg/.480 lift), another offers 2500-6500 (234/244 deg./.501 lift). I also like Sig Erson. Currently, I...

    Torque Converter question

Thank you Thanks, guys...I had a look again last night, and it does appear that the TH400 converter is a slightly larger diameter-about 1/2 inch or so. Guess I'll be calling Summit Racing again...:) Have a great day. Rick :gap

    Torque Converter question

Howdy folks - Someone told me that if I take a stock torque converter from a Turbo 400 transmission and put it into a Turbo 350 transmission, that I would get a small stall effect-similar to a B&M Torquemaster 2000. Is this correct? I find it hard to believe. I HAVE heard of people using a...

    Gas gauge - HELP

Oops-you are right, John Z. :beer I'm at work and don't have my "Tech Tips" file handy. This file contains copies of Tech articles from various magazines like Car Craft, Hot Rod, Super Chevy, etc. Real handy when you are looking for that certain article and you don't have to go through a...

    Gas gauge - HELP

I believe if you remove and jump to Ground the tank sending unit wire, the gauge should go to Full. Remove the jump to Ground (no connection), the gauge should drop to Empty. :) Rick :gap

    67 Tail Lights

Could be that the wiring is incorrect, or maybe someone has forced the bulbs in the wrong way, not being careful to align the little "dots" on the sides of the bulbs correctly.:ugh Rick :gap

    having experiance,tools,skills is nice!

Right on, runum I'm with you on that. I've been turning wrenches since I was 15. I'm 47 now, have a regular (desk) job but mechanic on the side and as a hobby. Lots of the folks at work come to me for advice and/or work. I won't work on foreign stuff (sometimes brakes), some Dodge and Ford...

There should be a law against this.....

Yep-it's there. Looks fine-nice car, Andy. Did you do the Lambo doors? I'll agree that these Customs (Kustoms?) are not for everyone, but as they say "Dare to be Different". Myself, I'm a car crazy kind of guy, I can appreciate most anything, and that's what it's about-the hobby, and...

    '69 vs '70

I have to agree with the others. The '70 is the "rarer" car, in that fewer were made. The fender flares is a good point as well, and I prefer the exhaust outlets on the '70-'72's. I do like the '69's however, because of the gills, and they corrected a lot of '68 mistakes. Long build year for...

There should be a law against this.....

Yikes! Oh, boy-where do I start. LOVE the carpeted T-tops and dash...:eyerole And you can see where the care and detail that went into the bodywork and paint also translated nicely to the engine compartment as well...:ugh Gee, what a waste of what was probably a perfectly good '73...

    did i blow it up?

Compression check on a locked up engine? :eyerole Pulling the plugs can reveal many things. If the engine IS locked up, it may be a hydrostatic lock from a bad head gasket. Who knows? My point was to start simple and look for the problem. Reading the plugs is a good start. Pulling the...

    did i blow it up?

Sorry to hear of your woes. Bossvette is right-step off, take a breather, relax for a day :beer. Start simple: pull the plugs and do a compression check. My hunch is a bad valve or timing chain and gears. Good luck. :upthumbs Rick :w

    it's always something...........

LOL ;LOL Too funny, Barry. Thanks for the tip-I will play around with the camera and "menu". I also know of some host sites (Village photos, etc.) that I may experiment with as well. So many projects, so little time..(sigh)...just planted an engine in a '70 El Camino on Sunday, I would like...

    it's always something...........

D'oh! Yes, I know pictures are a part of the membership here. Funny you should mention that. As I was staring at the engine bay last night, I realized I needed to start "documenting the process". Problem is, I have the camera set on hi-resolution photos (1 MB) and I lost the owners manual...
