In 1974 shoulder belts were a $41.00 option on convertibles. You may find them available in the usual Corvette parts catalogs and add them to your car. The AIM should show how they install.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread but my MC was bone dry in the back section last time I drove it. Tomorrow i'm going to check it out to try and find the leak. My car does not have power brakes so can I expect to find brake fluid on my drivers side carpet?
They both have a 350 cu inch V8's with single exhaust with a cat under the passenger side floor. I think we are both in agreement that the OP shouldn't gut his cat.
The pro lawn guys seem to like to run the Ethanol free stuff through their equipment and i've read that Ethanol is causing major problems with outboard boat motors. My home lawn equipment seems to run fine on the regular cheap stuff as well.
I may try a tank of Ethanol free in my Vette to see...
Uh, my 70 never had a cat (sheesh) and sounded great with the Flowmasters as well as the side pipes.
My 94 Z28 however had a bad cat that I gutted as a temporary fix and had a substantial loss of low end torque that returned when I put a new cat on it. I'm only speaking from my experience.
I know i'm going to open a can of worms here. My local gas station just installed an 89 octane Ethanol Free pump for boats and lawn equipment. It is 25 cents more expensive per gallon than the 93 octane pump. Who here would be interested in using that in their Vette?
After completing Hib's checklist and you determine you need a new water pump, I recommend the Stewart Stage 1 pump. It made a big difference on my car.
I also owned a 89 Mustang 5.0 for many years that had a useable back seat. Even the new Mustang's back seat is a joke. The only V8 rear wheel drive car that will hold a family of four is the Challenger and who wants to drive a 4400 pound Musclecar. I should have bought a 06 GTO or a 2010 G8 GXP...
As someone that has owned a 68 big block,79 Z-28, 82 4 cylinder, and a 94 Z-28 (which all had useable back seats). Hopefully the next car will have a useable back seat so I can buy one.
Here is a pic of a friend of a friends Pro-charger on a 70. He said it was far from a bolt in installation. It required a change to nitrofilled(sp) floats, a cam with a wide LSA,fuel system mods, and of course a taller hood.
Long ago I had a Camaro with solid mounts that was way overcammed(dumb teenager). It would rattle the fillings out of your teeth when sitting at a red light.
Definitely consider a 64 cc combustion chamber as that Camaro motor probably has dished pistons. Stay away from any head that has an intake port larger than 190cc. For a cam, look for something with an intake duration at .050 around 218 degrees. Best to call your favorite cam company to get a...
