    Bird Sh!t

I've had good luck removing the etching you describe with Meguiar's #9 in the brown bottle. It's less aggressive than the lower numbers, but it's more controllable. Generally, the orange peel in the area will get smoothed out, but the mark will be gone. Just take it gradually.

    My seats don't inflate!!!

I'm sure you'll be able to; you really need more info. Some public libraries have Vette shop manuals, btw. That or a cheap Chilton's with a wiring diagram. I know that the pump is expensive, but realistically, unless the car's been messed with, it's the most likely culprit. Be sure to check the...

    1984 400 horsepower

It's a small block Chevy; it can be done. The hard part would probably be to get the driveline to handle it. And with the short C4 wheelbase, it'd probably be a handful to drive. No offense meant. It's a logical idea, but not without complications. Good luck!

    Was anyone expecting more

Expecting more? Not really. It's fairly consistent with previous anniversary and pace car editions, all of which were fundamentally cosmetic. And if you consider how significant mag ride may turn out to be, it may be a step ahead of the others.

buying new 2002 - opinion on color

From the above website: Pewter/oak/oak 1SC MX0 G92 B84 QF5 V49 Z51 $53,750 (last Pewter Vert) All I know is what I read in the pr stuff. Of course, it would be an easy decision to reverse....

    Z06 vs Convertable

If you're can wait til '03, the Z is going to be the same, but you might like the new mag ride system that'll be available on the convertible. Unless you like pewter, which will no longer be available.

    fuel pump noise?

I've got the constant whine from behind the driver's seat, and it's usually the loudest noise in the car. I haven't taken it in, and don't know whether it's the pump itself or a vibration being amplified by something else. I'm not looking forward to taking it in for service and discussing how...

buying new 2002 - opinion on color

IIRC, this is the last year for pewter. The axle does make a difference, however.

    Body side molding removal experience

They came with the car from the factory; I didn't order them and might not have. I like the car both ways. They do mask some of the sculpting in the body. If I change my mind, it'll be easy enough to reverse. It's a fairly hot topic on other forums.

    Body side molding removal experience

Not the hottest topic on this particular forum, but FWIW... I took mine off over a period of two days, first one side for evaluation, then the other the following day. There was no damage whatsoever to the car or the moldings. I did take my time in order to be able to reuse the moldings if I...

    misleading badging

"My Corvette ... nor will it keep up with my Pantera from 20-100 mph." It should. The stock Panteras had about 330hp (under a more optimistic rating system, IIRC) and 3123 pounds with a 5-speed, there may be some speed range where it's quicker than an '01Z, but that can be true of any car...

Anyone have Porsche and/or Corvette specs?

Both are good cars. The Corvette, and the Z in particular, was primarily designed for the US and US roads (and tracks). The Porsche was primarily designed for Europe and European roads. Everything else pretty much follows. Smaller, short wheelbase cars always seem more nimble, although that...

Anyone have Porsche and/or Corvette specs?

The June Consumer Reports has the base Vette and Boxster. I'll let it go at that.

    air duct/filter

I suspect if one does some serious shopping and doesn't mind traveling a bit to get it, an '02 can be had in the $45-46K range. Prices vary quite a bit.

    Original wheels on 2001 Z06

Actually, I think the color is partially intended to conceal the amount of brake dust spewed out. It wouldn't surprise me if it was called Brake Dust Gray. It looks a bit different on each color.

    Ramps or Floor jack

Most people who use the Rhino ramps use a board or combination of boards in front of the ramp to ease the transition and clear the spoiler. If they're going to change the oil, they the jack the rear and put a second set of ramps or jack stands under the rear so all the oil will drain out. There...

    Antenna

Eckler's and Mid-America offer conversion kits. I understand that Radio Shack may have a 'shorty' antenna that is a straight replacement. FWIW.

    Paranoid

Maybe a mask to protect the nose might help a bit... all those vehicles can pick up rocks and debris and get them airborne.

Installed Vortex Rammer & Powerduct today...not much (if any) difference?!

I dunno, the dog ate that page of my book. That part's beyond my experience. Hopefully, someone else knows. Either way, good luck...
