    Assembly Plant Tours

Earlier this month, the C5's and C6's were being built simultaneously in what was termed a 'concurrent build.' That means that periodically (and probably unpredictably for a visitor), there were C6's interspersed on the line along with the C5's during what was/is both a production and transition...

GM - Here is what we think of the License Plate Mount

Understood. Agreed, and some of them are larger than US plates.

    XM Radio

The last I heard and saw, your information is correct, although GM may elect to include a body-colored XM antenna in their Genuine Corvette Accessories line which, among other things, contains body-colored door handles and CHMSL's. On the convertible, the antenna is body-colored and mounted on...

A piece of wooden dowel can also be used.

GM - Here is what we think of the License Plate Mount

The car was designed not to have any front plate. Considering half the states in the country require them, that was an arrogant choice, and it probably came from Lutz, who did exactly the same thing with the too-similar Viper, including requiring drilling holes. The extent to which this is a...

    Anyone not like the C6

Saw it and sat in it at the Bash. Anything different is interesting to look at, but I don't particularly care for the exterior or interior (which was less roomy-feeling than the C5 and a bit tight through the shoulders). The mechanical stuff is nice. IMO, the styling is hardly groundbreaking...

    Just Saw The C6

Put it this way: they're looking to expand their market, and though Dave Hill has said they don't want to lose their current followers, you can't have your cake and eat it, too. There's no question some people are turned off by the new direction. I've seen and sat in about five of them...

    Performance Package Question??????

You can't pick and choose from the Z51 package; it's all or nothing. Also, the performance rear is only for the automatic, not the manual. There shouldn't be much difference in noise, but there will be a difference in ride. If that's a concern, driving one over the roads would be advisable. I...

    steering adjustment

BTW, is this a new or recent issue or has the car always done it?

    steering adjustment

One manual I have says there can be interference with the frame if the slow steer hole is used with the power assist, the other doesn't. I know it's been done, but I don't know what (if anything) may have had to be modified. Unfortunately, the person with the car is no longer around here to ask...

    steering adjustment

Assuming this is not a new condition and everything is operating nominally, one option would be to relocate the tie rods to the outer set of holes on the spindles for the slower ratio that the manual steering cars use. However, it may be alignment or something else besides the steering.

    Rough Running 327/365

The fact that it behaves differently under load/no load conditions isn't really revealing, and if you don't have a dwell meter, that'd be a place to start. You can also visually inspect the points, clean the contacts and reset them. Also, check the base plate on which they sit for movement.

    Rough Running 327/365

It may not be necessary to replace the entire distributor. Mallory has a Unilite module that installs inside a stock distributor housing and replaces the points. It runs about $90, and I think it's still made. They're relatively easy to install and are very reliable.

    Ignition Problem

attret00, are you saying that you metered the dwell on the new points during the time it wouldn't start, and the dwell was then at 30?

Original-looking interior, but wrong trim code? How? And the auxi top?

I don't consider redirecting a thread that is being deflected off-topic defensive. If I've somehow offended you, I apologize. I gave my reasons for everything in the posts above, and they haven't changed. I haven't mentioned the additional areas because the conclusions I reach are mine alone...

Original-looking interior, but wrong trim code? How? And the auxi top?

I understand completely, and I've heard about the availability of the bogus trim plates. After doing some additional work, I now have a better idea of the interior and how it relates to the rest of the car, but other questions remain. I'd like to thank everybody for their help.

Original-looking interior, but wrong trim code? How? And the auxi top?

Sellers can be honest and wrong or mistaken, but that's no consolation if you buy something that is not what they believe it to be or what it seems. Collectibles often change hands frequently, and sometimes buyers later discover issues; sometimes they don't. Rarely, in my experience, does either...

Original-looking interior, but wrong trim code? How? And the auxi top?

As I mentioned earlier, I'm working from pics, so this is a bit complicated. I've owned and followed vettes for a long time, so I'm aware of the personalization cars go through from owner to owner, and I don't have a problem with that. I'm also aware that the tops sometimes float from car to car...

Original-looking interior, but wrong trim code? How? And the auxi top?

Everything affects the value of a car, and the implications of some things go beyond price. The real questions are does the post-'65 auxi hardtop headliner color follow the exterior color or the interior trim, and what other ways not previously mentioned might result in the trim code being...
