Everybody likes different things.
Realistically, there's no question that it could have been changed for color preference; beyond that, though, is the issue is of whether it was from choice, necessity (why and what else may have been affected) or for some other reason. There are a number of...
None whatsoever.
The concepts of color preference or damage repair did occur to me, and that wouldn't be an issue, except as a consideration for when the car would have to be sold in the future since it would cause the same questions to occur to someone else.
Given the potential/possibility...
Nothing is perfect, and experts disagree all the time. It's a question of learning what is probable and what is likely, and then making a determination as to what degree of uncertainty you're comfortable with. Numbers have to be put in context. The same is true of every collectible. Every...
Absolutely everything, including the dash pad, has been changed to the dark blue vinyl that would have available with the color. The hardtop headliner is blue, too, hence the headliner question.
I mentioned the numbers because, iirc, the body assembly containing that i.d. panel is dropped on...
Car trim code is STD for black vinyl, but the entire interior and all the trim parts, including the seatbelts is consistent in appearance (and dates where available) with another trim code.
Ever seen a car with an incorrect trim code? Apart from that, a complete interior swap with another car...
JohnZ, thanks for the post.
The only pic I've got of the driver's side wouldn't necessarily show a stamp on that flange (or the top, for that matter), so I'll have to check it later.
However, the Muncie appears from the casting and patent number to be the 7/8" shaft model that was last used...
Thanks, ChuckG
I did locate a transmission number stamped vertically on the passenger side rear flange (manufacturer code, month and day), but I haven't found anything with the sequence number yet. That passenger side is also where the site above suggests the info should be located- and where...
That was what I was thinking; I think a mirror or fiber optic may be needed. IIRC, one's sort of by the driver's left hip pocket, and the others actually at the top of the kickup on the top side?
It's a 4-speed and probably an M20. That's the area I was looking at, but all that I saw was a...
Understood, I won't hold you to it!
On the '67 frame sites- were the numbers on top of the frame requiring a mirror or were they on one of the sides? I was thinking maybe a mirror was needed.
Do you happen to recall where the sequence number was stamped on the tranny?
Thanks.
'Rubbed out' just means polishing the hood with whatever the mildest abrasive that's needed to smooth the finish and remove the problem is.
The imperfections are probably something simple that could be done by hand or with a buffer using a swirl remover or a similar compound. You could do it...
Actually, TSB's do typically offer 'correction' methods, and the original TSB did contain instructions to replace the covers for affected cars.

Whether they'd do it now under an extended warranty, I don't know. Other than slipcovers...
It's subjective.
Different waxes give different appearances and results on different colors, and some people prefer more or less reflective finishes. Too much shine can sometimes detract from the color. What works for one person with one color car may not work for someone else.
You may end up...
I had an '85 4+3 for a long time with similar mileage, and I never had that particular experience. I'd tend to lean toward something like the braking system or parking brake, but that's just a guess. There's always the possibility a caliper/piston is dragging slightly and releases when you brake...
Mobil 1 has not always come in vettes from the factory, but I don't know where the breakpoint is. If your car didn't come with it from the factory, I'd advise against using a synthetic oil like Mobil 1 because they can leak through previously good seals.
FWIW.
