    Intermittent Crossfire Miss - HELP!

If the engine is cutting clean, you might try jiggling the ignition switch to see if it catches, or jiggling it when it's running to see if you can interrupt it. I've heard of problems resulting from the switch though I haven't had the problem myself.

How do I get rid of water spots?

Meguiars #9 Swirl Remover is less aggressive than #7. Both will work, but you might want to try #9 first. If you use #7, you may need to use #9 afterward to remove the dullness it can sometimes leave.

    New member and C5 question...

Everybody has different tastes and preferences; the best bet is to drive a number of different C5's. You don't need a 6-speed to evaluate the suspensions. If you've had another vette, somebody with similar experience might be able to give you a point of reference, but that's about all. Sorry I...

    Something wrong with Z06's?

The zone guy was probably wagging it. The source is GM production data. It's available on other sites. The '02 info surfaced a couple of weeks ago. Here's one of a number of threads: http://www.z06vette.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17575

    Guidance, Please!

A couple of notes: The '01 is not identical to the '02Z. It has less horsepower and torque. You might want to drive some of both before you reach any conclusions. It's not a lot, but it is noticeable. Color availability also differs. The '01 oil consumption issue affects certain cars driven...

    '72 jumping tach

It's fairly self-evident. Here's one of the parts: http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?pf%5Fid=A3503&dept%5Fid=1877 From the look of it, the top end goes into the distributor and the cable screws on to the other fitting. Like I said, these weren't around when I fixed mine, however. One of the...

74 454 alternator mystery help please

You could pull up a website like Ecklers or M/A and see what alternator is listed for the '74, and if it is the same as prior years. However, the one on the car could be just about anything. Numbers off it would help, and a parts shop might let you see one they have for that application for...

    '72 jumping tach

That should work manual-wise. IIRC, there's one gear with a short shaft that drives the tach cable, and it's driven by a gear on the distributor shaft itself. They interface at a 90-degree angle. IIRC, there's a cup-like cover that screws on to the distributor housing through which the cable...

Have you had your Driver seat bolsters replaced?

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out. I had the driver's side bolsters fixed on some cloth sport seats for which no new cloth covers were available earlier this year, and it turned out pretty well. It was around $275. I took the seat out and left it at the shop to guard against collateral...

Tires: are GY GSC's the best dry traction tire for the money?

Several other manufacturers had tires with failure rates as high and higher on the truck, but they went unreported and uncrucified. And it's not a coincidence that there are so many ads advising people to check their tire pressures now. There's no reason to be concerned about the SZ50. One...

    '72 jumping tach

IIRC, the most common problem with the tachs on that one are with the tach drive gear and the gear on the distributor shaft, not so much with cable lubrication, although the cable can fail. The cable goes in at a bad angle, and the tach drive gear often gets chewed up. I wouldn't let it go too...

Have you had your Driver seat bolsters replaced?

The price may be a shade high, but not much. Even if the work did not cause collateral damage, the problem would be that after that was fixed, the rest of the seat cover(s) would still be old and subject to problems. Not too mention you might not be happy with the stitching, match or fit. It may...

    Something wrong with Z06's?

Thanks for posting, and welcome to the forum. The short answer is no, there is nothing wrong with the Z's- any more so than any other model made by any manufacturer. If you check other forums, you'll learn Acura had a major transmission problem with the TL (if you believe forums), and the list...
