    Parking brake is stuck on!

The C4 parking brake had an inherent problem with the application of the brake. If you pull up on the handle too far when setting the brake, the cable can come off the pulley or seperate causing you to be unable to release the brake. The secret is when setting the brake to not pull the handle...

    Smoke

If the white smoke continues after warm up and never decreases, you probably have a blown head gasket allowing coolant into the combustion chambers.

(61 Vette) The number 47 found on fiberglass panel behind passenger seat

Could be the factory job number which was written in grease pencil on various parts of the car to identify where they were all to come together. You should be able to find the same number in the trunk area, hood, engine compartment, and somewhere on the frame. I don't think there was any...

    New Noise!!??

My memory fails me again. What year was it that there was a problem with the power steering hose? As I recall, there was a vibration, resonance, etc. and the hose had to be replaced.

    Withdrawal symptoms!

Please, get out of the Volvo before you kill yourself. Then, stay on this site and read every post on every subject. It's called Corvette immersion and gives you no time to think about your Corvette. Time will pass, yes it will. Paul

Speed Lingerie Auto Bra for C4's

I have used a Speed Lingerie bra on my C5 for over a year and I have not detected any damage at all from its use. The fit is extremely tight so there is no worry about it flapping. As Diva says, take it off when not in use and after a long road trip, make sure you get all the grime out of it...

Need an opinion on a 98 vert

Yep, that's out of line. He bought the car well back of book (less than wholesale) so he has a lot of margin. Offer 24K and walk. You may not get far. No way over 25K. Happy negotiating. Paul

    Hello, new member here.

I would love to add some major mods, but the pocket book won't allow it .:cry Anyway, wanted to introduce myself. Hope to learn a bunch of usefull stuff here. I appreciate not doing the mods. Here in Kailfornia just buying gas is problem enough. Sounds like you have some trick stuff already...

    orbital polisher recommendation

Oooops. Just found a better deal on the Porter Cable unit. Go to www.coastaltool.com and look over their package. Only $119.95 and includes backing pad, foam pad, 6" weight, etc. There are probably better deals around but this is starting to get real affordable.

    orbital polisher recommendation

Jim, I attended a Meguiars detailing presentation this weekend and they demonstrated all their products using a Porter Cable buffer. Since they also sell that unit, this came at no suprise. It was used on C4s, C5s, and Corvettes with custom paint and it was able to remove minor scratches...

    My 1st

Welcome to the Corvette community. You are going to love the 1989. I had one that served me well. A terrific performer with the Z-51. Let us know when you get it and your impressions after getting to put a few miles on it. Be sure and locate a Corvette club in your area and make the most of...

Any Chance of Damage Driving with a flat Runflat?

Dave, you should be good to go now. Sounds like your Goodyear dealer knows the runflats. Careful now, don't exceed 140mph. Paul

Heat riser - what's it do?

Hi Bob, welcome to the left coast. Listen to Grizzly above. You will be inspected for a heat riser, PCV valve, and other smog add-ons. However, if your car was manufactured for the other states without a smog pump, you will not be required to have one installed for California. You will...

Any Chance of Damage Driving with a flat Runflat?

Unless the the hole was caused by a huge nail, it should be reparable. However, do not plug it but use an inside patch. Once a runflat has been punctured, the speed rating is decreased. The price of $535.00 is ridiculous. The price should be around $335.00 or less. Paul

    Newbie question: paint job $$$?

Roy, what are you using to strip the paint? Three of us stripped a 73 Corvette in one afternoon using a commercial stripper (careful not to get one that damages the gel coat) and we did a 79 Corvette in about six hours. A good stripper, plastic scrapers, lots of newspapers around the car, and...

    Corvette Insurance?

Matt, I think what you are referring to is classic car insurance. You can get this at a cheaper rate but you are limited to 2000 miles per year (varies by company), must keep it garaged, driven only to car shows and parades, and not driven daily. Regular car insurance applies to any daily...

    Newbie question: paint job $$$?

Hey Matt, take off the emblems, strip the old paint, remove taillights and any other components your don't want painted over, and take it to a reputable painter and you should get a real decent paint job for $2000-$4000. Stripping the old paint isn't that difficult, just real messy. The cost...

    Paint Protectors

Mike, I have had the bra for almost a year now and try to take it off when not planning a trip. I used it almost constantly on the caravan and after for over five weeks without a problem. The part I like about the installtion is there is no velcro strips, screwed in tabs, etc. You mount two...

    Paint Protectors

Could I have missed something? Probably not. I talked to the owner last year when he had just finished engineering the rear view mirror package and he said the compound curves there drove them crazy. When you look at all the compound curves on the front end, they are most likely having the...
