Old beat up targa...now a summer top

Happy with the way it turned out. I have a solid black top for the car and plan on using that in the winter. Getting older and this top is lighter and easier for me to pop on and off. It laid around for years till I decided to do this with it...:w I love the USA and our flag....Happy 4th everyone!

    Question: Targa Top

Thanks John, I kinda figured that's how it could be done but wasn't sure. Last night I found material and full instructions online. The cost is around $27.00. The adhesive they recommend can be found in auto stores. I applaud your ingenuity...something I would definitely attempt. Thanks again...

    Question: Targa Top

Have a targa top which the felt linning on the inside is loose. Anyone know how or have any suggestions in tightening it up. I suppose it was glued and the glue dried up....not sure. Some kind of padding underneath the felt. My older blue transparent top which had some blemishes on it is having...

    Help! brake issues

Definitely replace master cylinder. Flush plenty of fluid through the lines. May have to replace calipers but see if they work first. Usually that old of a vehicle ... replace. They may still be working but will eventually fail.

    Door Chime Fix

Great Job! I replaced mine a lot of years ago, remember taking out the dash. what a PITA. A note here, I think mine went cause when cleaning the lights the chime would keep chimming and I think that's what burned it out. So ... a word of caution here, turn lights off when cleaning or raise the...

    Warming up car.

I think it's recommended to drive the car slow till it gets warm, remember reading that somewhere.

Help! I also failed smog test HELP

I failed a while back, took to vette shop and explained the situation. The O2's were working but slow to react with temperature change. The car ran excellent though which really confused me. I guess the tests are getting more and more less forgiving and everything has to be 100%. Had both O2's...

Help! Bose Gold Series low sound out of speakers

I know somewhere on here I have read that the preamps are on the speakers themselves and they can be repaired. I believe the capacitor on the amp is the thing that goes and can be replaced. Maybe someone here can direct you to the post.

    obdII scanners again?

I use Autotap.com, had it for years now and it works just great. I think it's around $200.00 for the software and the connector for notebook. Works with win7 also which I like and the updates are free. Great graph, gauges and record modes. Learning curve...fairly easy. 32 bit or 64 bit OS.

News: Putting the vette away for the winter... :(

After all these years soon I will not be putting the vette away anymore. Decided to move south to enjoy nicer weather most of the time.....just can't take the winter months any more! I'm cold already and it ain't cold yet....brrrr....

    Gauges button not working

Hey Tim, Like many things on this car I've found most of the buttons and switches can be cleaned...i.e. radio, AC and heat controls, window switches etc. I've always taken them out of the car and look at them with a glass to see how they come apart. So far I've been able to correct everything...

    Help with emissions?

Well, I guess this thread is finished now. I Passed this morning :happyanim:. The only thing that was done were the O2 sensors which the cars computer failed to recognize as going bad. Had it been an OBD2 system with the added O2's on the downstream an error would have occured and I would have...

    Help with emissions?

Just an update, got the car back from the vett people and they replaced both O2's cause they were slow reacting as well as the cat on the left side was 200 degrees cooler then the one on the right. They told me that these cars for some reason have a tendency to go through cats on the driver side...

I need a general consensus please

I don't care for the wing on a coupe either. Your car looks great with the new hood and the flares will compliment both the hood and the wing if you decide to get it. Since your doing the add ons, go for it, I think it would look good. Custom is cool!

    Help with emissions?

Hey John, I understand what your saying about the gas but my driving habits with this car have been pretty much the same over the last 10 years or so. I fueled up a few times this summer, a few trips to the shore and some local driving on nice days. Maybe beginning of summer the gas set for...

    Help with emissions?

As I have posted before fuel injectors were sent out and tested a few years ago and only 4 or 5 thousand miles on them. They weren't that bad when I sent them out but they blue printed and brought back up to specs. I replaced fuel pressure regulator a few years ago also. Oil is clean and the car...
