Same thing happed to me a couple weeks back. The problem was the Column Lock Actuator Motor. Since it wasn't a part that was listed in the recall (which was done on my 2002 M6 Convertable) the dealer refused to fix it on their dime. I called the Chevy Customer Service people. They investigated...
I agree with Remo. When home, I always check the weather and take the Jeep if it looks like rain. On the long weekends away, I'm at Mother Natures mercy. Winter? unless it's one of the rare beautiful sunny days, the Vette stays in the garage hooked to life support. ;)
