The Ignitor with the lobe sensor will slip right in and sense the existing lobes that currently open the points. Without the Lobesensor requires that you put a "ring" around these lobes and the pickup triggers off this ring.
I have a Pertronix that has been on the car for about a year now...
Although the point gap DIRECTLY influences the dwell, DWELL is a FUNCTION of the point gap in relation to the height and length of the lobes on the distributor cam - and it is essentially an average reading across all 8 lobes.
Adjusting the point gap is a "close enough" setting - adjusting by...
I don't like to make a lot of noise, either! I had a 2 1/2 inch system bent up (from the Heddman full length headers back) with an X-Pipe right after the cross member and Flowmaster 50's. It is a VERY civil system - a bit louder than stock (VERY little) and sounds sweet when you stand on it...
How else do you think they are going to keep the RATES UP.? Announcing that they are "most stolen" is good for at LEAST a 30% premium......
Come on, don't we all LOVE insurance companies and want to help them get richer????
I'll have to give one try - really liked the brute strength of the DF, but you have a great point about flywheel friendliness now that I'm finished with off-road trucks (for now...).
Centerforce Dual Friction.
VERY serious clutch. Had one in an 81 Jeep Scrambler with a hot '80 vette 350. Did some crazy stuff in that screamer and NEVER had a problem with the clutch. The guy that bought it from me a few years ago beat the livin crap out of it and he never trashed the...
I believe there may be a couple of points. One is pedal feel - silicone is "more compressable" than glycol, so the pedal "won't feel as hard". When I did mine, I had replaced all of the lines with S/S and used braided caliper hoses. Plenty hard enough pedal for me!! There may be something...
Actually, you covered 4 ways. The method you mention that you connect a vacuum pump to a bleeder is NOT pressure bleeding. I have a couple of those and I hate them for bleeding!
Gravity certainly works to a degree, and it is very slow. It's cheap and handy when your system is in top shape...
I have experienced the exact same problems you describe in the past due to 2 different issues.
Once was after I changed the master cylinder and didn't bleed it [enough] on the bench - I should have gone a few more pumps! On yours, although they didn't change the master, it is possible that...
Installed the sender today and went for a nice warm ride! It works GREAT! With the new GM "replacement" sender, my gauge was reading a steady 240 (just sitting on the left edge of the RED). It was running fine so I knew it wasn't THAT hot.
Now, the gauge comes up slowly as it warms up, then...
Lectric claims they are accurate for our gauges.
I have one on order and expect it any day now. I can post how it acts when it is installed if anyone is interested.
