    Buying an 81Hi All,

Steve.... being you are from Miami, and I can assume the car has been in S.Fla for some time; I would definitely pour over that car and check for RUST before I got too excited. 15K miles is REAL low for a 27 year old car. Look for leaks too. If the tires are original likely so is everything...

    Carlisle!

Gerry..... many years ago they allowed you to camp in the near by grounds/park. It was a big problem and mess and Carlisle stopped the practice. As for rooms, you better start booking them for NEXT YEAR Carlisle now. Sounds crazy but the rooms will book up a year in advance. That would be...

ONLINE SURVEY - Corvettes at Carlisle - help us improve!

Lance.... the show was spectacular as always marred only by the terrible weather that came through so quickly on Saturday evening. I'm still amazed the damage wasn't worse than it was. you were so busy Sunday after the drawing I didn't get a chance to stop and say hello this year. See you...

HOW MANY 1975-82 BBC swaps do we have?

A BB swap out is more than just swapping the engine. Folks I've talked to that were interested found there was a significant amount of suspension work that was needed to handle the big weight increase in with the BB unit, new hood, radiator, driveshaft adjustment, u-joints for the added torque...

    Cloth Seat Covers?

Paul.... I think you will find getting the original cloth interior seats all but impossible. I have (had) Cinnabar (cloth) in mine and spent nearly 10 years searching for original material replacements and finally gave up and replaced with leather. If you find anyone that has original material...

    1977 vette

With white your options are almost endless. Why not go and mix up a custom color if you are going to change it? Be a one-of-a-kind like mine :D Good luck......... nut

    Aftermarket Stereo

I did the same thing. Purchased a another bezel at Carlisle and cut that one up just in case I made a mistake. I dropped a Pioneer 400 watt unit that was XM ready and also buried the XM gear in the console housing too. It will fit just fine and look great too. ....... nut

Grand Sport For Sale - Buyer Beware

I'll give them credit; the website listing was fixed too albeit still worded a little clumsy.

Grand Sport For Sale - Buyer Beware

Too bad. They probably would have advertised it as having one of a kind chrome rims too. :D I love the expression they use: "Looks like the real deal". WTH is that? Either it is.....or it isn't. Amazing (sic) :eyerole

Grand Sport For Sale - Buyer Beware

Elaine.... didn't you have chrome rims on it at one time? You still have them? Until I saw those pics I'd forgotten just how impressive that paint job is on that car. ........ nut

Grand Sport For Sale - Buyer Beware

I think for the most part Corvette owners (or prospective buyers) are generally pretty savy regarding rarity, or smart enough to bring along technical knowledge before a purchase of this value. Sadly too many of these specialty dealers often step over the ethical line; and some WAY over the...

Help With The "73 Aluminum Wheels Please

Stingray........ although the aluminum wheels look great, there is just something "right" about the look of the ralley wheels on the early C3's that still had chrome (68-73). I like the look you have now. JHO. ........ nut

    Alternator help

tot...... most autoparts either have one you can rent or just go buy one from them. They are not expensive for that type of use. Some big ones can get pricy though. The bottom bolt can sometimes be a little tough to get out and retightened. Patience will get you there. ......... nut

    Alternator help

We're good SIXFOOTER. I have noticed that on a car 25+ years old the wiring has seen a LOT of wear, the environment, dirt, fluids, ...etc that will over time slowly degrade the jacket and especially the exposed conductors. I have replaced a couple feet of headlamp wiring and to the turn...

    Alternator help

Sixfoot..... I was assuming that someone increasing the amperage considerably was going to increase load, hence the need for the additional amps need. I concur if your loads stay stable you have no worries or issues. ........ nut :D

Check the L81 registry site to see if the code list is posted. I'm sure it is somewhere. If not, pm (rare81). He sent me the flash/code sheet years ago. ......... nut

    Alternator help

I have talked to St.Louis 1981 guys and have been told they have found everything from factory installed 63 amps to 85 amp units in their cars. Another of the infamous "throw in whatever we have left" stories from the final months at St. Louis. Mine had a 63 amp in it and now has an 85 amp in...
