Missing Screws in the depths of the dash

No offense taken. You were in a better position than he was and that's the way life works. He is looking forward to picking it up Saturday. Until then he gets to clean out (his) side of the garage now. HAHAHA Enjoy......... nut

Missing Screws in the depths of the dash

Vet.... that Polo Green 96 looks familiar. My son was interested but first up to bat with the cash wins. I hope the car is all that Junk advertised it to be. My son Rob ended up buying a 96CE from a local guy and he is thrilled too. Good luck and enjoy!! ............. nut

    I May Be Getting Scammed

Thanks Tom.... I think if the guy wants to make a (dead winter) sale he'll come down another $500 bones. I took another look at the car this morning without junior walking around foaming at the mouth. I've done a fair amount of concours judging, mostly C3's but some C4's too from the Corvette...

    I May Be Getting Scammed

Thanks Dark. I agree. I've talked to a couple folks including Elaine (GS Diva) and she's pretty much convinced me it's likely a nice CE, but definitely not a LT4 engine. Either way I'm a little bummed about the seller, and I'm going to take another look tomorrow just to be sure my (over...

    I May Be Getting Scammed

I need some good old CAC help from the LT4 experts. My son is looking at (what is being billed as) a 96 CE coupe. So I pulled out my Corvette Black Book (CBB) and I already have a couple issues. 1. The car is an automatic. - according to the CBB, the CE's were ONLY 6-spd tranny's...

Is an extended warranty negotiable ?

That's a good question Frank, but the policy is the policy regardless of where (or from whom) you purchased it. You could have bought the car in Montana along with an extended warranty, then moved to PA. I would sure hope my extended warranty was good in PA too. It is (or it sure as heck...

Is an extended warranty negotiable ?

Extended warranty's are nothing more than insurance policy's. Anyone selling them should negotiate the price with you. You would be stunned as to how little the seller actually pays for them. The mark-up's can be incredible. Good luck............... nut

    Engine removal

MD is the same way however, I had a shop recommended to me that said they be happy to do whatever I wanted if the car came to them and the converter just "happened" to have fallen off along the way. Good luck............. nut

    Engine removal

Guys...... back "in the day" I had my full length Black Jack headers tapped and welded the plug for the O2 sensor on the left lower collector. It will work fine. The headers made a big difference in the performance (and sound). ........ nut

Mystery light on C6 -- Orange Light Behind Visor??

My 1981 has a (old fashion) bulb light behind the gauge bezel that illuminates the AC/Heater controls. The basic idea has been around for a long time. However I will say that LED will likely outlive the average owner whereas when I have to change out that bulb it is one PITA!!! ....... nut

    K&N air filter

I had a 5-6hp increase on successive Dyno runs with and without the K&N top plate air cleaner. Do I feel the difference? No. Do I get any better gas mileage? No. But it was at least validated as a horsepower gain. ......... nut

    High Mile Oil Recommendation

I switched to Synthetic around 100K miles. She has 250K+ now and has never been rebuilt in any way and only a slight puff on start up after she sits for 2-3 weeks (which valve seal wear). But then again I have religiously changed the oil, filter and air filter every couple months regardess of...

Center console Arm rest Cushion ? Yes or No ?

I even found one in the "infamous" rare Cinnabar color exclusive to 1981. It is definitely nice to have. Spend the money Bud; your 401K will never notice it. ......nut :D

    1981 Power Door Locks

I have the exact same problem. One of the switches is bad. Could be a loose cable connection at one of the switches but not likely. Just too big a PITA to pull the skins after all these years. Also, look at the switch carefully before you go out and blow $40+ on a new switch. the backer...

Pop up headlight slowly shifting backwards..?

You may need to look at another area. My left headlight assy started doing the same thing this summer. it is NOT out of adjustment in any way, and frankly I couldn't find a way to move the entire assy. What has happened is the glass has started to pull away from the framework along the...
