    EARLY AMERICAN PLATES

Schweng..... do understand once you yank all that stuff off you've pretty much locked it into your private stable. If you sold it in most states the law would require ALL the emissions equipment back on. Unless of course that states "antique, historic or street rod" registrations didn't...

    Carb stumble/hesitation

Bill.... I hit it with carb cleaner every time I change the oil. Keep the linkage lubed and clean as well as the air cleaner. You'd be amazed how much crap comes through that air cleaner element. Good luck. and yes, Tom is absolutely right about reseting the ECM. Could also be a bad ECM...

    EARLY AMERICAN PLATES

Dave...... removing the emissions equipment was simply; well.... removing it all. As for the catalytic converter; that just happened to "fall off" after a Sawz-all blade hit it. then I took it in and had true dual stainless 3" to Flowmasters put on. Otherwise I just plugged the lines and...

    Mileage report

238,796 and counting. Still the original and unrebuilt engine, transmission and rear end. Treat 'em good, drive them often and they'll run forever. :D ...... nut

    Carb stumble/hesitation

Replace the carb or have it rebuilt properly. I've got 238K miles on my original carb and only rebuilt it once in 25 years. But I also clean the carb it least once a month. 78SilverAnniv has driven my '81 and will attest that the throttle response is perfect. However..... a rough idle could...

    Squirrels and My Vette

Over kill You hit a squirrel with a 9mm and there won't a a lot left and likely one big-azz hole somewhere else (like a wall, hood, window, ...etc) :D You gonna pop the rat use a nice .22 or pellet gun. Or I'll rent you my Jack Russell. Nary a squirrel, cat, mole, mouse within 200 yds of...

    EARLY AMERICAN PLATES

MD used the same plate for many years back in the early 80's as they still do today. At 25 years you can have either "Historic"; "Antique" or "Street Rod" markings on the regular MD plate. I have the "Antique" marked plate which also got me exempted from the MD Emissions Inspection (fubar) and...

    SPEEDOMETER MOVING AGAIN

Lots of fake allen head bolts on the secondary gauge cluster too. And don't let Rare81 fool you. He's not as old a "fart" as he claims to be. :D ......... nut

    fuse box blown?

WONK.... the cluster is relatively easy to remove BUT....... you will have to unscrew the short cable from the transducer module first. You will also have to go under the dashboard and loosen the two large bolts holding the steering column in place. It is going to have to drop down 3-4 inches...

    75 & 81 rear bumpers

I think I'll be on the look out for some chrome 70-72 exhaust cut out bezels in Carlisle this year. I hope you don't mind ahoover, but THAT I gotta have on my '81!!!!! the more I look at it the more I love it. Looks like it was factory. Did you do this yourself or have a good body guy do...

    75 & 81 rear bumpers

That's the nicest rear conversion I've ever seen on an C3 with a 80-82 rear end. And the cut outs for the exhaust are awesome. Well done!!! :D .......... nut

    Normal Oil Temp?

The thermostat will regular MINIMUM temp not maximum temp. Many variants on what will drive the engine temp. Mine runs warm, always has. Normal very cool driving days at 70mph she'll run around 190-200 degrees F. Now under a load up a mountain with the A/C running she'll easy go to 235. The...

    fuse box blown?

As for your fuse problem...... try replacing with a couple 25amp fuses. Sometimes they will blow at the leg and not in the middle (visible) part of the fuse. A meter will work also and aid in tracing any other shorts or opens in your circuits. Good luck (again)............. nut

    fuse box blown?

WONKABOY..... welcome to the world of broken speedo cables. Likely you have a cruise option car and the cruise control transducer is broken. This will often add a considerable stress to the (transducer to tranny) cable and the insert cable brakes. This happened so many times to my '81 that I...

Memory is a terrible thing to waste

After that year things were never the same around the ole Baymont and Three Springs Rd. :D I still run into that guy and his wife from New York every year at our Ocean City Corvette Weekend in October. Go figure. I was sure Brutus was going to take her back home to Australia with him...

Memory is a terrible thing to waste

Yes.... there is a yellow warning label on the fan shroud that is missing from that picture. They do have a tendancy to want to peel off as mine is too. ......... nut

Memory is a terrible thing to waste

That is a reflection. The chrome lid should be pristine. There are stickers on the black air cleaner base and Bud's picture does show it. Hey Bud..... jeez.... I'd forgotten how crappy all that emissions stuff looks in that engine bay. you going to make it to Cruisefest this June...

AM\FM Radio with CB - antenna

Mine broke too while it was extended. One of these days I'll get energetic and buy the replacement nylon cord and resolder the wire I snipped too. Even though my original radio with the CB option was removed long ago I just tucked up the CB connector in the tranny housing. The antenna is...
