Here are two screen shots of the waveform from the M/C Solenoid, the green connector. Both are taken at idle.
What is strange is that the waveform did not change much when I increased RPM like I thought it would. I was expecting it to go towards full rich. I did see a little change in the...
I do not have my E4ME carb apart at this moment, but why would the primaries not be able to be changed? Are they not the normal screw-in used on all QJets?
I also just assume that the meterring rods could also be changed, but may be these are special to the E4ME....will have to do more research...
On the set that came on my car, the tubes went past halfway into each exhaust runner. So I ground them flush with the runner to get the obstruction out of the exhaust flow. I then capped off the main fitting.
Now, this did leave a path between exhaust runners and I never was able to figure...
I can only find blue replacements. Hopefully the coil resistance is the same.
The refresh rate is determined by the CCC, not the solenoid.
Thanks for the info.
Need to know what is the correct solenoid connector color. I am referring to the connector in the E4ME carb, not the engine wiring harness connector.
The one I have is black and wonder if it should be blue....or if there is any difference between the two??
Thanks once again
Just noticed last week (after owing this car for 8 years) on the nose emblem on the passenger side this gold "crest" for lack of a better term. Anyone know the story behind this? I thought all this time that there was just the checkered flag.
That is what I am thinking as well. We are not able to use any kind of high rise intake due to hood clearance issues, so probably no reason to replace the stock intake with anything else...this is a question???
I am doing alot of looking at heads right now....the cast iron World Products S/R Torquer and Sportsman II heads are nice...about the same price though as the Edelbrock Performer aluminmun head. To me this is a no-brainer...go with the aluminum heads. I already have the 268 comp cams and need...
I did not think the oil leak could also be a vacuum leak...but thought I would ask just to be sure. I will still be checking for vacuum leaks this weekend.
Otherwise I think I need to decide to either just leave everything alone, accept that this is all this engine combination is going to...
Here in the Tucson heat temp gauge shows about 180 or so all the time. I have a 180 thermostat and no A/C.....never hooked it back up after the engine rebuild. Usually drive with the T-tops out anyways.
Put a 180 thermostat in there and let the belt drive fan do the job it is supposed to do...
Weekend update:
Okay, I set the idle air blled valve using the J gauge. Mixture solenoid travel is right at 4/32"...slightly less.
I then turned the idle mixture needles to 3 1/2 turns, started engine and let it warm-up...had varying dwell. Turned the idle mixture needles the same amount...
Peter,
I installed a heated one on my 81 when I put the side exhaust/headers in. Had to use a heated one. Hope the one you got has as high of resistance as they make cause our cars do not shut off the current to the O2...it will be on all the time....shorting their life.
You could put a...
Since I have a varying dwell I would say that it is in closed loop.
Sensei going to need more instructions with regards to those carb mods.
Modify the air valve
Tune the linkage
Shorten the pump plunger
Open the idle screw ports - if you are referring to the idle air screws at the base of...
I will have to check the vacuum at idle once again...it has been too long since I checked it.
But the stock L81 had 195hp.
With the mods I did which include zero decking the block to bring compression up to 9.2...I estimated it delivers about 230hp now. Not exactly ground shaking is it!!
So...
