I respect your opinion Patrick, but you're seeing this issue only from the surface. The Feds aren't imposing anything on GM or Chrysler, except for the fact that the automakers are asking the government for a financial bailout for the mess they created themselves.
It's a yes or no answer...
Hey, if someone asks me to bail them out of their mess, you can bet I'm going to hand out some ultimatums. If Wagoner refused to step down, he would risk taking down the whole ship because GM wouldn't get a red sent from Uncle Sam, which BTW is our money!
Wagoner did the right thing and so...
I've had both the early model L98 and later LT1. I'd say from a reliability stand point a late model C4 with the LT1 is the better option. Although they have the dreaded opti-spark ignition, I still think its a better motor and a better car in general. The earlier L98 is a great motor too and...
Ok, thanks for the heads up. I think this is more than my tallent is capable of. After removing the cluster cover (or trim piece), I see the slots where the 4 bulbs are located. They are all lit up. I think you're right that a section of the LCD is broken in the multi-colored tach guage.
I'll...
Hmm! Might be worth checking into. I just didn't want to go to all the trouble of pulling the cluster for a repair that I can't do myself.
Thanks for the help!
Now that I think about it this may be a project that I can't do myself. From what I've read on CAC there are 4-5 bulbs in the cluster.
My issue is with the tach readout. The green, yellow, red arch on the tach. I have a RPM section of the arch that isn't illuminated. Might not be something...
Ok, Thanks Tony.
I've got the cover panels off. It looks like there are two 1/4" screws (or metric equiv.) at the top of each corner of the guage cluster. I assume those need to come out. Are there any others that I'm not seeing?
I'm going to attempt to get this out today. I agree I...
On my 86 coupe I have a burned out bulb in my tach guage. I'd like to pull the guage cluster out to replace the bulb and was wondering what is the simplest way to remove it. Maybe someone who has done it can offer me some tips.
Thanks
Should just unscrew from the heat riser pipe. I wouldn't suggest taking off the pipe since it is held onto the exhaust manifold with a compression ring that has to be cut off and replaced with a new one.
It looks like the heat riser tube that connects from the exhaust manifold to the sensor on the intake (the correct term escapes me). Anyway there is a wire coming out of the sensor. Basically, it functions for the purpose of telling your EGR when to open, if I'm not mistaken.
Someone may...
Two ways may help with the Torx bolts: 1) remove the valve cover to allow more clearance for a long extension. 2) I used a 1/4" drive extension that worker perfect.
That may be partly true. Viper was still competing in the ALMS while the C5R's were waxing their tails in GT1. They may not have had factory backing however. That I do not know for sure. But I've attended quiet a number of ALMS races where the Viper couldn't run with the vettes, and usually...
I put a fuel pressure gauge on the schraeder valve today and when I turn the key to the "on" position the needle shoots up to about 43-45 lbs, shakes erratically and imediately drops to 20 PSI.
Does this sound like a bad diaphram in the regulator? I thought it could also be a stuck injector...
I don't think I'm ready to accept a V-6 Corvette. Something just seems wrong with that picture. It reminds me of the 6 cyl. Cudas from back in the day. Part of the aura of owning & driving a Corvette is the muscle under the hood and the growl of the exhaust.
Pulling up to a stop light along...
