I did read somewhere in this forum that the 2001 model year came with a new type battery...........don't know if it was a gell cell or a AGM..........

I am going to replace the battery in my 2000 C5 tomorrow. I know I will need to re-learn the key fobbs. I also saw that I will need to reprogram the Learned Idle Position. I have the shop manual for the car. In volume #2, page 6-1057 step #2 is and I quote......"Restore the PCM battery...

Just recieved a set of the "authorized" GM Wheels locks, made by McGard Corp. Will I need to have the wheels re-balanced after I install these wheel locks? 2000 C5 with the Magnesium Wheels.

Did you take any of the black substance off to use as a sample? If so, You should be able to take that sample to your local county health dept. and they can analize it. If it was black it sounds like something like a road way maintance product. What kind of constuction site was it you passed...

The only way to fix your "damaged paint surface" is to take the car to an experienced painter and have him/her "wheel" the car out. That should remove most of the "swirl marks" and other surface damage as long as the "damge" is just in the "clear coat" surface. If any of the scratches are deep...
