Time has come to sell my Vette :(

Hi MM - Congrats! I know you will miss the old war-horse - but I'll bet you have the new one screaming to help you ease the pain... I can't wait to see some of your drags in the new car!!! best regards - mqqn

Is this ROAD RAGE at its ultimate?

Hi JonM - It was during a yellow and the cars were inching by him - not a high speed event. He got in the way and either tried to muscle w off the track, or just plain was not aware - either way, it was his fault entirely. He should be suspended for a few races for his childish behaviour...

    Throttle Bodies

Hi Tom - Wow! $929 for a plastic intake! I was excited reading the performance data, but that seemed a little high to me....I must be getting cheap in my old age.... I want to do long tubes, potentially an intake, and EITHER heads/cam or supercharger - I guess I had better get over price...

Oh Boy....1989 miles, "pull key, wait 10 "

Hi Jays Z06 - The column lock problem will show a "Service column lock" message on the DIC. I think the message you saw precedes the lock issue - you may want to have the CLB done if it has not been done already - Here is some info on the TSB I found searching. " Partial Text of Recall...

    Lowered C5's

Hi Remo - I have lowered several C5's - including both of mine. I went to the stock limits - which is an inch in the rear and a smidge under an inch in the front. I notice absolutely no drivability issues whatsoever - none. The air-deflector will make contact with the ground more...

    New Brake Rotors

Hi SANOLS1 - Cool - It'll be interesting to hear what they have to say. There is a post on the corvetteforum about a fellow who installed the new Z06 (the C6 z06) brakes on his C5 - I wonder if that setup will show the same symptoms - but what you say makes sense - i.e. the rears would...

    can't get rear rotor off

Hi awalla - Well keep on being persistent - you will conquer it! My daughter is getting married this weekend or I would hop on the bike and cruise up to Madison and give you a hand - seriously! That way I could go to a special steak house in Madison that I love..... If you are still having...

    C5 Vibration

Hi Bill G - If it is not a wheel bearing or u-joint (fairly easy thing to check) then I might suspect the torque-tube bushing....just a thought. http://www.breathlessperformance.com/products/100-504.asp best regards - mqqn

    Catch Cans Work...

Hi Z06-Tom - Nice sanitary install on your car - thanks for the pictures. Do you think your supercharger precipitates more oil blowby, or is this something a stock N/A ls6 owner could expect to see? Just wondering. I am anticipating that next year I will either put a S/C on my Z or H/C...

    New Brake Rotors

Hi SANOLS1 - There is no brake bias adjuster on a stock C5 - you would have to install one. I would ask Baer what they recommend - I would have thought that the increased performance of the fronts would have been in synch with the rear if it was a package deal..... best regards - mqqn

    can't get rear rotor off

Hi awalla - Make sure you have removed the emergency brake cable from the actuating lever on the rear of the brake. Then, you can use a screwdriver or (preferably) a brake adjusting spoon to back the emergency brake off a few turns. You can check to see if the brake is binding by turning...

    2003 Z06 - Windshield Wiper Fluid Leak

Hi Dave - Although there is something that is unusual about your car that is precipitating (no pun intended) this, the simple fix would be to vent the reservoir. There may be a factory "vent" that is clogged or something like that - good luck! best regards - mqqn

    2003 Z06 - Windshield Wiper Fluid Leak

Hi Dave - That's a new one by me. You can test your heat-related pressure build-up theory by removing the cap from the reservior and allowing it to breathe - if your drip stops you have found the problem. Interesting. Winshield Wiper Incontinence. I hope you get it figured out! best...

    Heads Up Display

Hi sorbet02 - They do - they have what GM calls a special "anti-lacerative layer" that sharpens the image reflected off of the windshield. That said, I am not too sure the difference is readily apparent to the average driver. The old Grand Prix had a HUD unit and they look just fine with no...

Hi Silver97 - Darn right! good deal! I am glad you got the new wheels - you really should! best regards - mqqn

    2003 Z06 - Windshield Wiper Fluid Leak

Hi Dave - The C5 has a known issue that will allow washer fluid to escape on hard acceleration. I see it from time to time - but I just let the washer fluid level stay low and it doesn't seem to happen anymore. best regards - mqqn

    Heads Up Display

Hi silverstreak04 - If your car is a 99 or newer it is a plug and play setup. The dash panel on non-hud cars even have an embossed "template" for the cutout, just add bezel. It is more difficult if your car is older and does not have the proper accomodations. best regards - mqqn

    hello from new york

Hi sorbet02 - Welcome to CAC. I used to live in the Buffalo area. As has been said, there have been some ls1 and ls6 engines that have experienced piston slap noises - I have a friend whose coupe clatters a bit when it is idling. He also had an ls1 Z28 that did the exact same thing (some...
