    radiator running hot

if you have a full machine shop and a press why not rebuild your original? The new units available from Delco are NOT made by GM, they are outsourced out. I just found this out myself since the WP on my '78 just went bad and needs a new bearing. I also recently read an article about rebuilding...

    radiator running hot

if the system was cooling fine before the AC was added I doubt the waterpump is bad, although it is possible that the cast iron impeller inside of it is corroded from age and simply not as efficient as when it was new. Water pumps can be rebuilt but you need to get new bearings, seals, and a...

Question: New Owner - a few questions...

the 1st generation Camaros had a steering wheel that looked very similar to the Vette wheel but a smaller diameter. I've seen people use them for the purpose you are describing. I've considered it myself since I'm 6'2" and mostly legs so more legroom would be welcome. The big issue though is a...

    Interiors

Bernie I'm going to Carlisle but only for Thurs & Fri this year and not taking either car. The '65 is still over at Joe's (he's fixing that spot on the fender finally plus of course the car still needs the tranny and clutch dealt with) and I need to deliver some wheels to Stepinwolf at the show...

Who from this forum will be at Carlilse next week

Larry i'll be there but only Thurs & Fri this year and no Vettes with me :( mostly hanging with Mark (VNV) at his car in '63-'67 registry, or over at Vetteheads at G110, or at the Chips Choice display looking at the restro-mod cars like Rich's, Herb's, and a number of others I'm looking...

Hi Bernie not up to much lately....... You been traveling a lot? on the dash, doors, etc I tend to use the Lemon pledge also for a few reasons: 1. I'm lazy and already have the pledge and rag in my hand from doing the seats. 2. I figure the vinyl dash pads, interior molding pieces, and such...

    Rear end ratio

Tom don't remember and I only drove the car once this year back in March taking it to the paint shop where it's still at. I know at 60mph I'm at almost 4,000rpm. Probably closer to maybe 3700rpm but I don't know what I'm turning at 55mph, I'd guess between 3200-3400rpm maybe??

    Rear end ratio

geez Tom, a calculator? I suppose if you want to make it easy for people that would work....... ;LOL ;LOL

    Rear end ratio

Jack up the rear so both rear wheels are off the ground. Rotate the tire one full revolution for posi rear and or and 2 full revolutions for open diffs. Carefully count the number of full revolutions the driveshaft makes. This is your gear ratio. In other words, if the drive shaft turns 3 ¾...

Bernie for what it's worth....... A few years back when I had Al Knoch recover my '65's seats with new leather covers I asked what he recommended to keep the leather clean and in good condition. They recommended first heating the seats with either a heat gun or a hair dryer to open up the grain...

    hei on a '64

here is a link for the D.U.I HEI distributors. their model #15720 is a mechanical tach drive unit. A bit pricey though.... http://www.performancedistributors.com/gmssdui.htm why spend almost $500 on an HEI tach drive unit though? There is absolutely nothing wrong with a properly set up points...

    Radiator Recommendations?

besides what's already been posted about checking for all the radiator and core support seals, air dam under the nose, correct operation of fan clutch, etc one thing that hasn't been mentioned is the timing and vacuum advance. Correct timing and vacuum advance is imperative to proper cooling...

    572 Project update

Bob I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it but now I do see if you look closely enough that the cluster lettering is green. Very nice touch to go with the green and white interior theme. Sweet! It's little detail things like that that make such a difference between a run-of-the-mill car and...

    572 Project update

Bob that instrument cluster and GB door look nice! I really like those gauges. I always thought the white gauges looked good in the C2's against the black cluster surface but that is very nice and unique.

    motor question

I'd go with the dual plane intake regardless since they are usually more streetable anyway. In fact, if appearance is important to you more than getting every tiny bit of perforamnce out of the motor (a 383 stroker is going to give you a lot more power than your L76 motor anyway) you could use...

    Help! Amp meter not working

sincro, I'm also one of the "less knowledgeable" Corvette lovers here! Why do you think I collected so many tech articles? I needed something to learn from as I attempt to work on my own cars. I than realized that if the articles were useful for me than they would be useful to others in the same...

    1959 Frame?

yes, C1, C2, and C3 frames are being reproduced using the original GM-owned stamping dies. These are exact reproduction frames for your car. http://www.vetteproducts.net/ pricing isn't cheap, a C1 frame for the '58-'60 cars is $4295 but it will be perfect. Another alternative is to find a...
