Providing the 89 is set up close to a 90 the relays are activated by grounding. They always have power to them when ignition is on. There should be a wiring diagram on the relay , from that you should be able to determine which wire is ground. Memory not being real good I think it was white...

The synthetic leaking worse than conventional oil is an old wives tale too.. I have never ever experienced that and I have change quite a few engines over with well over 100 k on them. If I value my engine I won't run anything but synthetic . :thumb Glenn

I believe your right it might make it run hotter .Stay with a GM pump. To help with the city traffic heat I installed a switch to turn on both fans when in traffic. Quite easy to do. the fans turn on by grounding the relays. You just need to be sure to isolate the two circuits

Oil itself doesn't wear out, the additives go away and the oil gets dirty. Clean it , take out what is left of the old additives , put in new additives and it is just like new. Glenn

Your key has a resistor chip in it , that needs to be matched. Dealer can read your key and give you the right one. Glenn
