It has been awhile since I had a wheel off , and never off a corvette . But the ones I have had off you just about need a tool to get that plate down far enough, I think the shafts moves down slightly with it when you push it down . The tool is reverse of a gear puller, pulls on the shaft...
If the trans fix works as well as the power steering additive then it should help at least for awhile.
Very often slippage is due to seals going bad/tearing, but sometimes it can be seals getting hard.If they aren't torn it might help.

If you have the right equipment to press them out and in , and the bearings are available , then I see no reason why this couldn't be done. I have actually thought about this often. I would want to inspect the hub very closely after the bearings have been pressed out. Also I think it would be...
I made a statement that wasn't fully true . Back in the early 50s ball bearings were used then somewhere around 60 give or take a couple yrs they went to the tapered bearing that used needles. The last unit,( hub with bearings installed like just about all the front wheel drive cars have used...
Most shops have insurance for major problems like this. A lot will depend on that. The insurance company will have the last word if they are involved.

Any electric gauge can vary with change in voltage. Does your volt meter also drop when you go to wide open throttle. Maybe you have brushes in the alt that are not staying seated. Mechanical gauge is the only way to get a true reading.

With C4 parts getting harder and harder to find I find this unforgivable.
There is someone that could have used every part destroyed. This could have been done with some rust bucket. :mad

Maybe you actually have a miss. You might want to check it out.You should be able to run at 60 in 6th with no problem
Under any load I don't like to run under 50 in 6th. I think it is counter productive on economy. Usually not under 40 in 5th.
Mostly I start in first gear. skip to third and...
Are you sure your tail lights are working . Dash and tail work on same fuse.
If the dash is just dim I am not sure but if it is totally dark check the taillight fuse.

I replaced my injectors with the Bosh III from FIC because I had 2 with low ohms. The result was impressive. I didn't bother to check anything else as it runs well and plugs look good after a couple thousand miles.
I do need to do something with throttle body as it has a worn throttle shaft...
If you switched to synthetic oil since you last checked it that could be where your extra mileage comes from. Did you change where you get your gas ?
I pretty much use Shell gas and get 24 + mgp all around driving.. 12 to 15 mile runs each way.
Couple weeks ago I was in a situation where I...
Fall projects and spring projects. No winter projects, it just gets to cold here to try to heat the garage. Would be cheaper to have it done than to pay for heat. About 97k on it now so need to do a front to rear check on anything I can think of.
Need to check the rear wheel bearings,I have the...
