My father works at an accredited break/muffler shop for a living. I wasn't aware they all had 4 wheel disc brakes though. I could have sworen the previous owner said he converted them over. Thanks for the info. That will definitely help if I need to replace any parts. I didn't know what year...
Hey everyone. I have kind of a strange issue. I have a 1974 Corvette that the prior owner had switched over to 4 wheel disk. I had the car sitting outside for a few weeks while I changed out my carpet. I finally got it back together and was going to take it out for the first time this year...
I recently bought a near full front suspension rebuild kit for my 74. The car has been a bit loose on the road while driving. I noticed after I got the kit it didn't come with the pitman arm. I got on ebay looking for refurbished ones and it appears they sale them for power steering and non...
I've seen a lot of talk about ssnake oyl seat belt restoration. However, they have new seat belts on the site also. They appear to be single retractor. I'm assuming the retractor fits where the oem one does behind the seat and then the end of the web connects under the seat where the old oem...
Well it turns out it was leaking somewhere under the hood under the window. I bought a can of flexseal. I actually got the knock off dupont stuff. I sprayed a whole can of it in the area under the hood that catches the water as it runs down the windshield. I then smoothed it out with a paint...
Ok I did some more research and I think I understand the intake/exhaust runner concept now. For the exhaust it's the space the exhaust gas travels until it reaches the exhaust manifold? The intake/exhaust valve are how big around the valve are obviously. The bigger they are the more...
I've been posting a lot lately, but with the warm weather I've had a lot of time to work on the 74. I was wondering what some of you would suggest for a good head upgrade. My car has had the motor swapped out. It's a 76-77 LM1 out of a camaro. The specs are below:
Block
3970010
2 bolt...
Would the yellow circle be where I connect the wire? It has a male plug on it and is labeled IGN. What gauge wire will I need? Looks like the previous owner used 10 gauge.
With all the interior out and a large rain storm yesterday, I was able to track down the source....kind of. It appears to be coming in where the air vent is on the drivers side. With the kicker panel off by your left foot, there is a piece of rubber that covers this side vent. Any ideas what...
The previous owner of my 74 corvette hooked up an HEI distributor. He did a hillbilly job of wiring it. He ran a toggle switch and a direct wire to the battery in order to bypass the resistor wire. Does anyone know of a good ACC hook up in the fuse box that is powered on when the key is...
Rain keeps leaking into my 74 corvette somewhere. I'm not sure where though. I have the interior out to replace it. I want to get this fixed before I lay in the new carpet. It rained last night and my drivers floor pan had standing water. It appears to be leaking in on the left side under...
Thanks for the reply. I managed to get the dremel with a cutting wheel in there. I cut the top of the bolt off and it fell right through. I just need to remove the rest of the plastic panels and I should be ready to put the new carpet in. Thanks again.
I was wondering if anybody could give me some helpful suggestions. I'm installing a new carpet interior kit and have to remove the seats and most of the trim off the sides. It has all been fairly painless up until the last bolt on the passenger seat. It is the back bolt that holds the seat...
That's exactly what he did. The car won't start if it switch isn't on. I switched to an MSD tachdrive style distributor. Will a replacement harness have a resistor wire? I'm assuming it will so that it is to spec. Can you suggest a wire tied into the key that I can splice into to get 12v...
I was wondering if anybody knew why someone would run a hot wire from the battery to the distributor? I have to throw a toggle switch before I start the car. The guy I purchased the car off of years ago said something about there being a resister in the stock harness. He switched out the...
It's not that I don't want to buy one of his Chuck. He won't let me. :rotfl Maybe I'll order it from a different address a few weeks from now. Bad thing is I still have to use the same credit card, so I'll be using my real name. lol.
Thanks for everybody's help. I ended up finding one from classic car wiring on ebay. They claim it takes in the engine bay, headlights, dash and rear of the car. It's all in color and laminated. A hair smaller than the one's from DocRebuild's, but a fraction of the price for all the...
wow. I asked the business if he know of any other companies selling the diagrams since he refused to sell them to me. He banned me from the site. lol. This is the worst interaction I've ever had with a automotive business. Not professional at all.
