    jack handle

Different years had different locations. My '90 the jack handle was secured behind the drivers seat with two hold down clips that attached to the rear seat mounting bolts (the back ones, not as a Vette has a rear seat LOL.) On my '96 the jack, handle, ect has a foam holder that stores in the...

    Cooling mystery

Sorry to lead you astray, as I stated I wasn't sure about the relays on an '88. Even the fan configuration is a bit different. On my '90 there were two fans behind the radiator, and the relays for them were on the radiator cover. Glad you found where yours are, and hopefully this will cure...

    1990 - automatic trans. question

Sounds like the Tach filter to me. Its located on one of the upper bolts between the engine and transmission, on the drivers side. Its round, about 3/4" in dia, and about 3" long, it has one wire one either side of the canister. Oh BTW Rain, in your first post you have his car listed as a...

    Cooling mystery

The temps are set in the ECM so the computer controlls when the fans come on. Yes 228 seems high, but GM set it high to help meet emmission requirements. You could get you chip re-programmed so that the fans will come on at a lower temp. :w :pat

    Mystery bulb

Yes there is a bulb for lighting the spare tire carrier. Its the same type bulb used for the license plate light, don't have my manual with me to look up the number, but its the same bulb. :w :pat G

    Cooling mystery

Not exactally sure for an '88. For My '90 its one of the two relays on the side of the radiator shroud, on the drivers side. :w :pat G

    Cooling mystery

Most likely a bad relay. Could be the clicking that you hear. There should be two relays one for each fan. :w :pat G

What are these 'Parts Manual CD ROMs'?

I got a copy of one of these. Mine is actually a C4-C5 parts manual. Pretty good IMHO, its got all the parts down to nuts, bolts, screws, ect. with GM parts numbers and prices. The hardest part is figuring out the verbiage that GM used for the parts, once you get the hang of it its not that...

    1990 - automatic trans. question

Is the motor actually spinning at 4K or is the tach just reading 4K. On my old '90 the tach filter was bad and the RPM's were reading higher than the motor was actually spinning. I checked this by putting one of those small 2 1/2" tachs in temporarily. Hook up was easy one wire to each of the...

LT4 Chip or Programmer for LT4 ? what do you use?

I use the programmer from Tunercat. It is no longer available, they sold the rights to Jet and its now called Jet Dynamic Tuner. Another option is the LTedit programmer. There is a tuner in NC that has a very good reputation, and they do dyno tuning. Seems like the place is called Carolina...

    Jacking my C4

yea forgot about that part As far as the 2X12 ramps we had to do that at the mechanic I took the '90 to when I was checking it out. The lift wouldn't fit underneath to raise it up, had to drive up on 4 of them. Always! :beer :w :pat

    Jacking my C4

I agree with Tom. Depending on what work I'm doing, determines on how I jack mine. If I just want the front up I use the cross member, the back I use the "pumpkin" of the differential, If Im lifting the whole car I use the factory jacking points and insert jack stands once I get it high...

    Driving Lights

They are from Breathless. The conversion took about twenty minutes. Four nuts on either side and three wire taps. Aiming them took some time, adjust, close hood, check, open hood, adjust, ect. The difference is night and day when compared to stock, and I think even better than the Hellas...

    Long Pedal

I had this problem in my '90. Turns out the vaccuum booster cracked on the underside closest to the firewall. Couldn't actually see the crack with it bolted up, but you could feel it with your fingers. :pat :w
