    Help! Dropping the transmission

Take the bolts out of the U-joint yokes on both the front and rear of the driveshaft, and pry the U-joints out of the yokes to free up both ends. Then you can wrestle it out from the tunnel by sliding it forward to clear the differential, and drop it down and slide it out the back.

Help! drifts like a boat and rides like rock

The single best handling improvement on my 82 was to install new steering cylinder assist bushings on the rod end to frame bracket. The originals were compressed so much that the rod was flopping back and forth in the bracket. It tightened up the steering, and took away all of the drifting at...

    Car dies when in gear

Sounds like the float is adjusted too high if you can't see any fuel. If there was no fuel, it wouldn't be running. It's hard to see the level if it's too full. Turn the screw clockwise until you see the fuel level drop in the bowl, then adjust it to the proper level. Then go back and adjust the...

    PO306?

I love it when a plan comes together!:beer (George Peppard- The A-Team.)

    PO306?

Yes it is. I don't find a Code P0306 on my Corvette code list, but it is on my OBDII list as #6 misfire. I suppose it could be a bad connection to the injector, or a faulty injector, but let's start with the easy stuff first.:)

    PO306?

It could be a simple matter to check. Such as: A fouled spark plug. A loose spark plug wire, or loose connection to the coil. I would pull the passenger side rocker cover and check for a loose plug wire first. Then if it keeps throwing a code, pull the plug and see if it's carboned up. Put a...

    rear driveshaft bolts

If memory serves me, they are 3/8" or 7/16". You should be able to fit a 6 point box wrench on to them from the side.

    Exhaust System Problem

$20.00? Mine cost $85.00, and they screwed up the pipe rotation too.

Help! THROTTLE GETTING STUCK - CAUSING HAVOC

There could be one of several problems. The cable sheath might have gotten kinked or bent, causing the cable to bind enough to not completely go slack when at idle. The cable might have broken one of the several steel wires in the bundle, and it's catching on the sheath internally. The...

Question: Running a Car with Water - Is this a scam?

There have been many water powered cars in the last 110 years. The late Stan Meyers was one of the last. http://www.waterpoweredcar.com/inventors.html

    what octane level 84 Corvette???

The L83 engine is spec'd to use 87 octane. But that is with the crossfire injection system intact. Since you have removed the crossfire system, the spark retard via the knock sensor no longer stops you from pre-detonating. I would try a mid-grade fuel and adjust your timing as neccessary to...

    Help! 82 won't start

Check the tach wire on the distributor. That is where the feedback for the ECM comes from. Also, check to see if the fuel pump is coming on when you turn the ignition on. Listen for the buzzzz-click from the pump before you crank it. You may have blown a fuse for either the fuel pump or the fuel...

    I have a rumbly...

No, the original problem was that the Idle was really high, and uncontrolled at operating temp. And occasional stalling was also happening. All in all, the new CTS, IAC valves, and plugs have got it running good again. Success!!!!!!!!!!!:beer

Changing Spark Plugs in a 1982

Stephan, The #1,3,2,4 plugs can be removed easily from above with a ratchet extension on your plug tool. I would avoid the plug sockets with swivels on them. They can pivot, and lead to snapping the insulators as you have found out already. A straight socket with a 6" extension should do it...

    Question: dashboard message?

Yep! That switch is in the shifter, not on the transmission. Pull the console, and you will see it as it engages in park and neutral.

    spare tire in 1982

The 82 has a regular spare in the tire carrier under the gas tank. It is not as wide as the rest of the tires on the car, but is not a mini spare. Something around a 225/50/15 size. Any radial tire will do for this purpose, but you need a wheel with the correct bolt pattern for the Vette.
