You might want to check the connector at the back of the gauge cluster. Mine was half unplugged once and all the gauges went to full scale or zero randomly. Im pretty sure the tach signal goes through that harness.
Just remove the glove box liner and reach behind the cluster to make sure the...
It does make sense considering that the 82 was the last production year of the C3's, and they would want to use up all of the current inventory of vendors parts while making a minimum of changes to the interior.
It could be the ignition key switch contacts not turning the coil power on.
It seems to me by reading this that it is cranking over, but no ignition sometimes. A bad key switch could crank, but not activate the ignition at the same time.
When it doesn't start, have him check for 12Volts at the...
Okay Stephan,
You have mentioned the Choke light before, but I thought it was a misnomer then and still do.
First, the CFI 82's don't have a choke. It's a function of the IAC valves and the injectors running rich at startup that gives you the rich mixture. There aren't any choke plates on the...
A bunch of us have done them recently.
Sometimes it's easy, sometimes there are problems.
If you are good with a wrench, then it is a pretty simple task.
Sometimes the pittman arm joint doesn't like to come loose, sometimes the valve is stuck on the end of the relay rod.
There is a bolt you...
Check your oil level again. If it's OK, then the leak is a slow one. Before you start it, I would jack the front up and put some jackstands under the frame and look to see where the oil is dripping from. It may be a loose oil filter, or a pan gasket that is leaking. You can check for low hanging...
There's nothing on the 82 that would remotely be transferring oil to the footwell, unless you had oil in the antifreeze coming out the heater core. That would be a foamy brown color anyway. There's no oil line to the gauges, it's electronic.
I would definately pull the passenger seat and carpet...
Change them when the engine is cold.
Do the front two plugs on either side from above, and the back two from below. Use a ratchet with a straight extension on the spark plug socket, not a swivel socket.
If you replace the plug wires, do them one at a time to match the length and avoid problems.
I think neither of them are the problem.
I would look at the plugs, wires and distributor cap first, then the idle mixture adjustment on the carb. And make sure your power valve isn't sticking .
A bad accelerator pump will cause you to stumble and sputter on acceleration off idle until you back...
You can loosen the flange bolts and rotate the mufflers a little so that the two inside pipes line up. That might just give it enough so that it doesn't look droopy on one side.
I think you will find that it only goes in one way because of the notch in the clip. Disconnect your battery before you put it in. The clip has a series of slots on both sides of the clip where the chip leads are held. One side has a lot more than the other side to keep from putting it in backwards.
It comes in various widths and thickness.
Check your local hardware store or auto paint store to see what they have.

Check the frame ground wires that come off the headlamp connectors. They are black, and are wired together to both sets of headlights. Find the connection point where the wies come together and follow it to the frame and clean up the contacts under the bolt head.
If that doesn't work, check for...
