One way to find it would be to let the car cool down completely, and then clean everything in the leaking area with an engine degreaser. After everything is clean, take the car out till it's up to normal temperatures. Take the car back home and quickly get under there with a florescent light...
That sucks. I remember the good ole winter days. I drove an '86 Trans Am one winter and that was no fun. I always tried to keep a good coat of wax constantly on the car that way the salt is at least sitting on the wax.

I believe you'll need to order new speedometer gears to fix the speedo. Should be 2 smaller nylon gears that mount near the trans. I had a trans specialist install the ones on my L98. Not sure if they still have them or not but I ordered mine a while back from Summit Racing for around $30
