    Help! Corvette Noob! Need advice

Tune it; drive it the rest of the summer to get aquainted with it, then decide what you might want to do with it. My 74 coupe had the L-48 and I had no complaints with it. Congrats on the 74. :thumb

    Just picked up an '82

82 emblems are one year only. Before you dive into the console, are you aware of the two hidden trim screws beneath the center cluster? You may want to consider ordering the 82 assembly instruction manual (AIM) when you order your emblems. Congrats on the 82. :thumb

    Vin Look up

Yep. I read it before the C5 new model introduction. Went back and read it again over Christmas. Yes, Among other things. The big block was an options package and included several things not found on small block cars. :thumb

    Vin Look up

Corvette blocks were being stamped at the engine plant and the assembly plant a long time before 1/1/68. My advice: skip the decoder thing. It might be useful for generic GM makes, but Corvette codes are very well known and readily available. Purchase a copy of The Corvette BlackBook. :thumb

    Help! I have a Question

No. You will need original factory documentation with the car to determine the original engine. Does the seller have any of the factory paperwork? :thumb

    Vin Look up

Anybody can swap a hood. The OP asked about determing engine from the VIN. The is no engine or option information in the earlier VINs. As Mike suggested, there are clues you could look for, but everything big block was optional equipment and any or all of the option package could have been added...

Have you tested the sending unit in the tank? These can fail. :thumb

Question: 68 coupe in garage since 1985

Nice car. Looks like a 350hp with factory air. There should be a second stamp on the pad beside the V0305HP. It will be the VIN derivitive and should match the VIN. :thumb

Help! 75 stalls when put in gear

Set it to idle at 600-650 rpm in Drive. Stranger things have happened, but my guess is that you are seeing sealant and not Locktite. Loosening the fuel fitting requires two wrenches; one to hold the carb fitting while you loosen the fuel line with the other. When was the last time the...

Question: Anyone ever seen these makings before on there L81 or C3

441 is the assembly line job number for your car. It may match the last three digits of your VIN. I am not familiar with the white label. Where is it located? It may have been used if your car was selected for a quality audit. :thumb
