Retailers Who's Your Favorite and Why?

Post your own thread. This one is about C3 aftermarket parts providers and has nothing to do with C6 dealership repairs. :thumb

Retailers Who's Your Favorite and Why?

If you follow the Corvette Forums, including this one, it very quickly becomes apparent which vendors have good customer response and support and which ones tend to miss the mark. :thumb

Retailers Who's Your Favorite and Why?

Everyone has his/her favorites. FWIW: three of my preferred vendors are not on your list. :thumb

10 Reasons not to buy a big block Corvette

I'm willing to bet the author would not know a big block one if he saw one. His ten points are not limited to big block cars. :thumb

Question: 1971 stingray rallys rims, rings, and centercaps.

Try Google, Craig's List, and For Sale items on some of the other forums to get an idea what a set of these is going for. Just a heads up; when you post them, folks are likely to ask about the dates. Good luck. :thumb

    Strut Arm Bushings (question)

I cleaned up the bores on my strut rods and installed the new stock rubber busings without having to use a press. :thumb

    Paint Job for c3

Don't look now, but some owners confess to paying five figures for a paint job. :thumb

    Help! Transmission oil cooler.

All C3s with factory AT use a tranny fluid cooler built into the stock radiator. Line connections are on the passenger's side of the radiator. The assembly instructon manual (AIM) shows these. :thumb

    Paint Job for c3

If you like them, go with Place #1. $6K is not unreasonable. :thumb

    Catalytic Converter-Off Road Pipe?

FWIW you might want to check with your DMV before you purchase the test pipe. It is against the law to sell these in several states which is why they are no longer listed with regular aftermarket providers. May not hurt to check with the eBay seller. :thumb

    brake warning light/ distribution switch

Since she is doing you a big favor by helping out, gently remind her to keep the pedal down until you tell her to let it up. Not to overstate the obvious, but you're going to owe her more than you already do. :D

    brake warning light/ distribution switch

The chassis service manual says to begin with the left rear inner. They probably have their reasons for this. I usually begin with the right rear inner and have never had problems going this way. RR inner RR outer LR inner LR outer Right front Left front. :thumb

69 with AC and no overflow tank

Aluminum radiator with tank and metal fan shroud. This is the L-46, but the plumbing would be the same for the base engine car. Factory aluminum radiators have no fill cap and must use the surge tank. Copper/brass raditors have separate fill caps and do not use surge tanks. The 1969 Assembly...

    Question: Power antenna 82 vette

The assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows how the antenna was installed on the assembly line. Knowing how it went in is helpful when taking it out. As far as repairing it, you may be limited as to what you can do. :thumb

Question: 1979 After Market Air conditioner

Salvage is probably best. Anything factory air car 77-82 would work. I do not know any vendor which sells complete factory AC units. A good many of the necessary parts are available through the aftermarket providers (pullies, brackets, belts, hoses, fans, HVAC controls and harnesses, etc.) The...

Question: 1979 After Market Air conditioner

AC became standard beginning with the 1980 models. Ron: purchase the 79 assembly instruction manual (AIM) and take a look at the factory AC installation. You could add factory air to your car without having to attempt to adapt any other system. The AIM has several pages showing the...

    Radiator Support Frame

Radiator support. Several of the Corvette aftermarket providers carry these. Not sure what you're calling a front crossmember frame, but the same vendor with the radiator support might have what you're looking for. :thumb

    One Horn or two?

May depend on the model year. Most C3s have dual horns, but 71 may have been an exception. Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? If dual horns were installed, the AIM will show each. :thumb

Changing Rear End - Valuation Issue

No change in value while you own the car: it's your car. If you make the swap, keep the original 4.11s for future resale/restore purposes. :thumb

    Help! Repair suggestions

None of the drive line or suspension components under the car should be banging or rubbing on the underbody. Check to ensure the differential is securely mounted. :thumb
