It's fully you say that, "Dirty Howie", because, at one time, Katech had an outside PR firm working for them. The firm is owned by a business friend of mine. A few years ago, Katech decided to take marketing/PR in-house. I think they should have kept the outside help.
Catbert!
Long time since we've exchanged greetings!
Great question, but no, I don't, for several reasons...
1) The current management at Katech was not in place when GM took the Corvette Racing Engine program in-house.
2) Katech had different owners when it was the engine supplier and when...
Time to drill down into Katech's most recent statements regarding the "Street Attack LS7" in my '12 Z06.
It is surprising that the President of a multi-million-dollar corporation that depends, in part, on the Corvette community for its business decided to troll one of their customers on the...
Picking up where post #390 left off...
Well...no way was I going to accept Katech's offer, shown at the end of the post above.
I was unwilling to create any content about Katech prior to and as a condition of a refund. Also, I was unwilling to sign an ND agreement. Finally, needless to say...
My adventure with the Katech "Street Attack LS7" in my Carlisle Blue 2012 Z06 began in late spring of 2017. The "Blue Bullet" had a little over 40,000 miles on it and I wanted a 600-hp engine. I had long been familiar with Katech though my work as an automotive writer covering Corvette and...
The thread on the CF about my car has been put back on-line, however, it has been heavily revised. A lot of the posts by interested parties have been deleted.
I am working on a reply to Katech's final comments at the end of that thread which were posted just before the thread was locked but...
The Corvette Forum locked that long-standing thread about my Katech engine "adventure" then temporarily took it off-line. This was done to allow CF moderators time to review the 600+ posts for rules violations. I kinda had a hunch this was coming after I PM'ed with the moderator of the C6...
The 84-88 4+3's gear box section, essentially a beefed-up Warner Super T10 was an ok transmission, but the electro-hydraulic overdrive was a complete POS. Doug Nash sold GM a bill of goods on that deal. As a result, GM's warranty costs for 84-88 manuals was obscene. The overdrive was under...
Hey there-
You didn't say what year car this leaking trans is in, but generally, there are a couple of "front seals" in an automatic. 1) the front pump seal and 2) the input shaft seal.
In fact, using the trans cooling outlet to drain the transmission is one way to trans the trans but it's a...
The reason you hear it most often after cold starts is as soon as the engine is running, the ECM retards the spark, to heat the exhaust quickly so the cats light off. When the spark is that retarded, some combustion is going on downstream of the exhaust valve and that makes the engine more...
I know Jim Mero pretty well. I was one of the two people who, back in late 2017, helped Jim validate his MR cals for 09-13 Z06/Z07. It made quite an improvement to my '12 Z06 in the Sport mode.
One problem with the 2G MR was that the MR computer of that period only had enough capacity for two...
To start the diagnosis, I'd get the car up on a lift or high jack stands and inspect all bolts holding powertrain mounting brackets and check all powertrain mounts.
Also, inspect the frame around powertrain mountings for cracks.
If you can drive the car for 30-min, come back to the shop, wait 10-min, try to start then have a no-start condition, I'd say that rules out a choke problem as the choke shoud be open. It also, likely rules out flooding as the engine spits back though the carbs.
Once you have the no-start...
OMG that is a freakin' long post.
(sigh)
I suspect you may have more knowlege about the history of the 4 than I do. I was unware there was an 827 cfm version nor have I ever heard of a "DOVE diaphragm carb".
I agree.
In some cases that could be true but in the case of GM, specifically...
