    1984 greenwood convertible on ebay

Hope it's okay to post this here. Check out this auction. The roof looks funny. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=6168&item=4561917670

    A/C compressor pop off valve

I agree with bradfordsvettes, it would be very unusual for the valve to leak. I don't know how you would replace it without evacuating and recharging the a/c system. You can put soap bubbles over it and watch for leaks, it's low-tech but I see seasoned a/c techs doing this.

    Larger Auxiliary Fan

The auxiliary fan should not be making a racket, if it is, something is wrong with it. When mine comes on, I can't even tell unless I look under the front of the car.

    Ride characteristics question

Holy cow, I don't think any shocks will last 96,000 miles, it's time to replace them if they are the original Bilstein shocks. If anything, the car should be smoother if the shocks are worn out, since you're basically riding on the springs. A c4 will never float down the road like a cadillac...

    Installing a Convertible Top

I agree. This is a terribly complicated job, lots of cutting, adjusting, gluing, ironing, etc. and you'll never be happy with the fit. It's best left to the professionals.

    Just got my first vette....:)

That sounds like a great car, and I've seen that color before, it's beautiful.

    Lifting a C4

This is the risk you take when you bring your car in for anything. This is why garages have insurance, so if something happens they are covered for claims. All businesses have insurance, and I agree with c4cruiser, if you march in there waving a printout about small claims court they will show...

    Man, I feel stupid!!!

Everyone who owns an early c4 gets the code 32 once in a while, there was a thread on this subject awhile back, and the consensus AFAIR was that there was a factory defect in the computer. Many people have tried and failed to find a sure cure for this problem, maybe it's one of the sensors...

    Front fascia alignment

I'm having this same problem, and I see it on other C4s too. I've come to believe that the urethane warps over time, many bumpers even turn wavy because of this warping syndrome.

    Convert my A/C to R134a

Yes, it is possible to charge the system with R12, it is still available but very expensive, which is one of the reasons that people are switching to R134a. Many people claim that systems running R12 cannot be successfully converted to R134a and that it won't cool as well, but I have done the...

    Prices for 1990

I love auto trader, been looking at it for years, both in print and online. Gives you some idea of what's out there. http://www.autotrader.com/

    Replacing rear glass seal ???

Jon is right, no gluing required, just pull off the old one and press on the new one. There is no trick to it, although if you want some advice, press in the corners first and then slowly work around doing the curves. You'll have to unclip the gas supports and either have a friend hold up the...

    What gives?

I'm with most others on this one, the Mustang is as much a part of american car muscle as the corvette. I have fond memories of my brother's 72 mustang grande, it was a beautiful car and he kept it spotless, it was a blast to drive. I can see why people would want a mustang, it's a bit more...

Is this 1988 Vette worth 6500?

I don't think he'll get $7,900 for the car, so maybe he will accept $6,500. A/c is not cheap to repair, my guess is the shaft seal on the compressor, if you see oil spots on the underside of the hood there's your leak. Voltage sounds normal. The new tires are a big plus, as well as the intact...

    Mirror Trunion

The mirror is pressure-fit onto the trunion, it just snaps into place. To remove the mirror, rotate it all the way outside and put your fingers under it, then snap it out. Often it isn't the trunion itself that causes the wobble, but two philips head screws, all you have to do is tighten them...

    Air Conditioning kits...?

There is a lot of misinformation floating around about a/c. Try this forum, where all they know is automotive a/c. http://www.acsource.net/acforum/viewforum.php?f=1&sid=31165c31f0f6af4f375846d8012c6a3e

    Replace Alternator every 2 Years??????

I don't know why the early C4 alternator is such an issue, maybe the thing was poorly designed in the first place. In the past I had more trouble with the alternator than any other part on the car. If heat were the culprit, then the later C4 alternators would also suffer the same fate, so I...

    1986 or 1989

The differences between the two model years aren't great enough for that alone to be a factor in your decision. It's the same basic car, same engine, and I don't think anyone will ever notice a driving difference between 16" wheels and 17" wheels unless they had a good imagination. People keep...

Anybody got a good Vette that got away story?

When I was a teenager my dad said that a friend of his had a 79 corvette for sale, and he couldn't stop talking about it. It was an impractical car for our family, but my dad kept hinting that he might buy it. I was really excited because the corvette was an unattainable dream car, and still...

    Camber Brace

I've been eyeing that camber brace for some time now, guess I'd better break down and buy one.
