    Masked vette

Over time, dirt gets stuck under the mask and rubs into the paint, creating rub marks. So it's either rock chips or rub marks. The mask looks cool, though.

point me right direction on this?

You should never have to adjust the idle screw, that's why it's sealed. The ECM sets the idle speed.

    Weed-eater Outrage!

I think you overreacted, and you should calm down. It's just a little grass. If they had taken the weedeater to your car I could understand your rage, but a few little blades of grass aren't going to hurt it. If it bothers you that much, park away from the grass next time.

    Caution: Corvette Salvage Yards

I agree that condition is relative. Years ago I bought a hard top in Florida for my 90 convertible, and I was assured it was in "excellent condition." When I received it in a HUGE box, I pulled it out and it had deep scratches on both sides, down into the fiberglass. I was enraged. I called...

I have never seen anything like that.

    Carpet Glue

I like to use the 3M spray adhesive, it worked perfectly when I did my carpet. I can see why they didn't use anything stronger, because eventually you have to change the carpet, so if you use a stronger cement it will be a nightmare to remove the old carpet.

    C4 Floor Repairs

Yes, this is very easy to do. Just follow the directions on the can, it's practically idiot-proof. I patched a hole in my floor pan a few years ago, it looks pretty good, I used four layers and it's rock solid. A professional body man could have made it look like new, but who is ever going to...

What those people in the UK think of the C6

That video has been around for awhile. The important thing to remember is not to make generalizations about British people after seeing this show, eg British people don't like the corvette, etc. The amusing thing is that Jeff Hammond believes he speaks for all British people when he's actually...

how many watts for new stereo sys?

This is a surprisingly complicated question to answer, because everyone has stereo advice, and it's all different. My advice to you is to frequent online car stereo forums to find the best solution for your needs. Try this one: http://www.caraudioforum.com/ Also, crutchfield.com is a...

    High level Brake light

It was 1986, all new cars that year had to have the useless and unnecessary high mounted brake light.

    question about tires

I bought the sumitomos from tirerack a couple of years ago and they have been great tires. I didn't expect much for the price, but they have held up remarkably well for a budget tire. But in all honesty I don't know how people can tell the difference between tire brands, I certainly can't. I...

    sport seat switches early C4

Why don't you try a corvette salvage yard? It's cheaper than buying new parts. I use this one: http://www.corvettesalvage.com/

    93 bose to 89 coupe

I believe that the 90-and-up stereo is double din (din=height) while the 89 is 1.5 din, so you would have to modify the stereo bezel as well as the mounting "shelf" inside the dashboard. Also, you would need a 21-pin adapter since the 89 has a 12-pin connector. On top of all this, I don't know...

    Front Signal Change

Geez, you guys. You don't have to remove anything. I changed my fog lights and turn signal bulbs within the last year and don't remember having to remove the fascia.

Bose or not to Bose, this is the question

I was very happy with my stock Bose stereo, it sounded pretty good, it has a unique rich sound that you can tell was custom tailored for the corvette. But when it went out, I got so frustrated finding replacement parts that I gave up and went aftermarket. I'm happy with my new stereo, I put...

    89 Vette

My rear hatch solenoid went out a couple of years ago, got a used one from corvettesalvage.com and it worked perfectly.

    Low Coolant Message

Emma, with your car cold, check the fluid level of your coolant reservoir to make sure it's within spec. There should still be coolant in there, since the system draws in coolant while the car is off and cooling and lets it out again when it's hot and running. Then, with your car cold...

I agree, $8,000 sounds about right.

    Low-Coolant Light

I had a mysterious coolant leak a few weeks ago, no traces on the garage floor, oil looked okay so no head gasket problems. It turned out to be the heater core. There was coolant all over my passenger side carpet. Had to pull the seat and clean the carpet.
