    better front spoiler

Why not just shave the stock spoiler down with a utility knife, it worked for me.

    Does EVERYBODY like Painted Calipers?

I don't care for painted calipers, I think they look ridiculous. But if you're happy with them, that's all that matters.

    Surprise - Bose Problem

I agree about the wealth of knowledge to be found on this site, you're right, this question has been answered lots and lots of times, in great detail, by myself and many other very helpful people. I wish someone would put the Bose topics in a stickie somewhere, as historically there are some...

    C6 side view?

It does look rather stubby from some angles. It took a long time for the car to grow on me, but I like it now except for the headlights. The convertible is gorgeous. Stylistically, the car is definitely an improvement over the c5. I think that stubby back end makes the car look leaner and...

    Gas prices changing anything?

It's impossible for a C5 to get 33mpg. Going downhill, maybe.

I notice that the auction is over, did you win?

Opinions wanted for best year for Vette.

"Best" is really a subjective term, it depends on what you like. 85-89 were all pretty much the same. I've only ever owned early C4s, so to me they are the "best" in terms of style, performance, and handling. The later c4s handle pretty much the same but have more power, which is fine and...

    normal operating temperature is?

Hmm, 239° seems a bit high to me. In stop and go traffic with my a/c on full blast, I never go over 220°. I do agree that a clean radiator is very important, and is the reason, I suspect, for a lot of overheating problems. This site is great if you want to clean it yourself, it walks you right...

    need radiator advice a.s.a.p

I agree with this advice, the stock radiator is more than adequate.

Why are C4 prices so low?

Sigh. I hope people aren't buying corvettes while worrying about retained value. A car is not an investment, it's a thing to be driven and enjoyed, or at the very least a thing to commute to work with. Who cares if its appreciating or losing value, when all is said and done, it's only worth...

    Ecklers 134a Conversion

I'd like to chime in about o-rings, HNBR are compatible with r12 and r134a and are more durable than the stock neoprene ones so they should last for a long time, you can buy a 270 piece kit on ebay for less than twenty dollars. If you've never done a/c fittings before, you need two offset...

    R-24 $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The compressor is the same for 88-96, the nippondenso 10pa20c. The dessicant used in accumulators can be used for R12 or R134a. The hoses are the same too, so is the condenser. R134a doesn't cool as well as R12 this is true, but the difference in temps is negligible, within a few degrees.

    Simple Question - Fogged Windows

I have had this problem before on other cars, even other brands, it has nothing to do with the heater core or armor all. The plastics in modern car interiors, when parked in the full sun, tend to "evaporate" and leave this unpleasant film on the glass. This is most noticeable in older cars...

    what other bose will fit?

This is the one you want, from 90s Camaro: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Camaro-Bose-CD-player-AM-FM-Radio-4th-gen-Z28-SS-Chevy_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38644QQitemZ7992503529QQrdZ1 They come up all the time on ebay, or you can pay hundred$ for one from mid america.

    Coolant smell

There are many places it could be leaking. Lots of mechanics will do a pressure test for free, this is where you should start. Also check your oil, if there's coolant in it, it's a head gasket leak.

The importance of a CLEAN radiator

Yes, this is why cleaning the radiator and the fan shroud should be a part of the routine maintenance of a c4, at least every few years.

    Replaced R-12 with Freeze-12 today

This is standard procedure when refilling an a/c system, you pull a vacuum to -29 hg and let it sit for an hour or two, if the vacuum doesn't hold you check for leaks, tighten up, and pull it down again. Some people pull a vacuum two or three times to boil off all the impurities. This is how...

    Towing questions...

The camry owners manual for a 4-cylinder says you can tow up to 1500 pounds.

I need opinions on a mini mask

It isn't the mask itself that causes the abrasions, it's the dirt and dust that gets stuck under the mask, eventually it builds up and rubs the paint. The mask looks really sharp, but you have to remove and clean it every time you wash the car. It's kind of a hassle.

for sale -vs- part out car

Well, you did say your days of turning wrenches were over, and parting out is a lot of work. I say sell it outright if you're tired of it.
