    Supercharger?

Are we talking superchargers or blowers. A supercharger is a belt driven turbo charger, A blower is a big positive displacement pump that moves a set quantity of air. I run a 8-71 blower because it is not rpm dependent. I can get almost full boost from idle on up. The supercharger builds boost...

Big Block Radiator in a SBC?

When I swapped the small block for a big block I went with a 3 inch core aluminum rad and it fit without a problem. I would go the biggest and best rad you can afford and be done with cooling problems. I also like electric fans so i don't have to deal with the shroud. It makes for a cleaner...

A shot of my new 14 inch rotor installed

I don't know about the dust since the car doesn't come out of the shop until May 1st. I use stock stainless sleeved calipers, they have the large 1 7/8th pistons, they don't leak, the peddle doesn't get spungy and backed by the hydroboost they are really strong. The increased radius will...

A shot of my new 14 inch rotor installed

No but with the number of students passing through my lab every year they all know me but I don't know them. The average size of the class is about 105 students. I am at the University of Waterloo/ engineering

A shot of my new 14 inch rotor installed

Most of it is home grown. I bought rough cast 14 inch rotors from Coleman racing for $512 unmachined. For the hats I made custom 10 inch ones from 2 1/4 x 10 inch chunks of aluminum $100 per chunk. The wheels are American Racing Torque Thrust 2's with custom offset. They need 18 inch rims to...

    Caliper bracket flex

Like some of you mentioned I ran into caliper bracket flexing. I had to add 1 1/4 inches to my brackets to mount the calipers further out for the 14 inch rotors. I did a good job of welding the spacer in, ground it flush and then powder coated. They looked like factory stock but after mounting...

Gas Tank Repair - How to be safe?

Any gas tank can be quick made safe for welding in about 5 minutes. My son repairs tanks and taught me how. I remove any covers that I can then take the shop vac on blow, not suck and stick the hose in the tank. In as little as 5 minutes the tank is safe to use a flame on it but I prefer to let...

    I need a racing harness.

How do you run the shoulder harness?? To me they would just slide down the sides of the seat becoming irritating. I perfer to have the shoulder straps running through the seat so they are held in place and that is not possible with those seats.

A shot of my new 14 inch rotor installed

I finally got around to taking a picture of the rotor on the car with the rim installed. The caliper is black here but the other 3 are gold colored and this one will be done before final installation

    opinion on high flow cats

Rich idle mixture causes smell. Ever let the car idle in the garage and your eyes start to water/burn. Lean out the idle mixture and the exhuast stink goes away. I can idle mine in the shop without those burning eyes.

    opinion on high flow cats

I am doing the same thing. While I am not required to pass any emission test a roadside check by the DOT and finding no cats the fine is an automatic $450. High flow cats run me $260 CDN for a pair of 3 inch ones and I at least pass the visual test.

Difference between a 12 and 14 inch rotor

I bought the rough casting from Coleman racing for $512 CDN. While they will machine the rotors and didn't know what I wanted so I bought them rough, almost no hole in the center and machined everything. I can buy hats/ the center aluminum piece but only in 7 or 8 inches and I wanted 10 so I...

Finished one of my caliper brackets

I don't like the design of our wiring for the head lights. All power to the lights flow through the head light switch and the high/low dimmer. We also are lucky to end up with 12 volts at the lights, Makes for dim lights. A better way is a pair of inexpensive bosch relays, $5. each and a direct...

Finished one of my caliper brackets

No I am just lazy. I don't have to paint it. My son runs a powder coat division and he just hangs the parts on the assembly line and they are automatically done. He drives past my place on the way to work so he picks up anything I have and returns it at night. He is capable of doing an entire...
