Impressions of my huge rear sway bar

As you know I installed a 1 1/4 inch speedway bar on the back to go with my 1 1/4 inch front bar. The front is extremely stiff with a 1/4 inch wall tube. It is alot stiffer then the 1 1\8th in solid bar. For the back I used 3/16 wall tube. I also used bearing blocks on the front and bushings ...

    My rear sway bar

That uses a stock sway bar and that doesn't fit with large offset wheels. The bar would rub on the tires. I also don't want anything hanging down like that taking away from the apprearance from the rear. Mine is extremely compact and tucked right up against the frame.

    My rear sway bar

Sway bars on the back make a car oversteer. Stock setups tend to UNdersteer. Being a big block and a heavy blower on top of that will make my car UNdersteer or push the front end in the corners. Adding the bar will put more load on the rear tires causing the rear to loose traction quicker...

    My rear sway bar

After reading a good article by Herb Adams and talking to Twin Turbo I decided to install a rear sway bar. Being nose heavy my car would tend to understreer anyway. Fitting a bar is not easy with the big tires and 6 ½ inch offset rims. I also further complicate it with fuel filters and twin...

    Update on rewiring head lights

As a refresher I rewired by head light by installing relays next to the lights and run the main power cable directly off the alternator. This increases the voltage to the lights and at the same time takes the load off the light switch and the dimmer switch. They should last forever. I controll...

New updated shot of the vet

I have coilovers on all 4 corners. I also run a 1 1/4 inch speedway sway bar with bearings rather then bushings.

New updated shot of the vet

Guys it's a whole new experience driving that much power. I actually took it around a sweeping curve today at 120 mph and it really hugs the road. I don't know if it is just the new 18 inch tires or the massive speedway sway bar but it just plain hugs the road. I went around a tight S bend today...

New updated shot of the vet

The motor is brutal. The torque is what really shows with a blower. It will lug down to 1200 rpm in 5th overdrive with 308 gearing and at the same time will light the tires with a simple roll on at the top end of 2nd gear. With the old 411's in the rearend it wasn't until 4th that you could...

New updated shot of the vet

This is not a great shot from the rear. The big green filters are fuel filters. The tank had dual outlets, each into it's own filter then into twin holley pumps

New updated shot of the vet

Road visability is really not a problem. A car comming from the right can not hide behind the blower. The front or the back always sticks out. YOu have to drive the car to realize how much visibility you really have. Those are American Racing Torque Thrust 2's 18 x 10 on the back and 18 x 8 on...

New updated shot of the vet

I finally got around to washing the vet. While it has been on the road since May 1st the weather was not the best. Today I was off and gave it it's first washing of the year. I took a few pictues and then waxed it. What do you think?? Copy it and blow it up.

How to bypass the proportioning valve

Our front and back systems are interconnected by a toggle switch. If you loose one set of brakes the other is affected. The switch bleeds off pressure going to the low side. This makes for a scary ride. I also found problems bleeding the system with the proportioning/light switch installed. I...

How to bypass the proportioning valve

I did this last night for a friend. I took my old lightswitch/proportioning valve, sand blasted it and took it apart. I wanted to make a bypass , internally so all stocl lines could be used and the installation would look stock. After cleaning the brass block I removed the light switch and the...

My custom Big632 billet gas cap

A special thank you to Mike for the beautiful cusom gas cap.... My custom gas cap arrived about a ½ hour ago. It is a custom Big 632 billet stainless cap. The quality is excellent, the finish, the 8 button head screws and the engraving on the back. Beautiful custom piece. I ran out to the...

    Rear spindle studs....

I have replaced all studs with upgraded 1/2 inch moroso studs by 3 inches long. I do not run backing plates and at the 9 oclock position on the drivers side and 3 oclock on the passengers side there is room. You might have to slightly cut the backing plate but at these positions the backing...

    Rewiring the headlights

Since the weather didn’t cooperate this weekend and the wife was going on a shoping trip I decided to rewire my headlights. I didn’t want the power for them to come from the headlight switch. I wanted it directly from the alternator. I bought 2 bosch 30 amp relays for $5.95 each and two 30...

    Brake Pads

I only run organic pads. They do not eat rotors. The metalic pads will quickly eat your new rotors. I have good luck with Wagner organic pads for about $40 CDN per end. For that one panic stop they will match anything.

How to spruce up your seat belts

I installed a 5 point on my wife's side and cut the belts to a more usefull length. To prevent fraying you have to melt the cut ends. I used my propane torch, practiced on the cut off piece first to get a feel and then did the good end. My old 5 point has been used for many years and is getting...
