Skant, You are of course forgetting that most pro dragsters use a manually operated automatic. I still stick with the idea of what you are using the car for, if it's drag racing the auto is much more consistant, which is what drag racing is all about.

You should be fine with the chrome, they shouldn't rub against anything, just be careful when you clean them.

I don't remember the brand I had put in mine when I had the tranny rebuilt, but I had a 2500 stall speed put in, and I am extremely happy with it. Not too much stall for the street, and launches great at the track.

You can adjust it at the handle by ratcheting the handle about three times, pull it tight, release, tighten, release, tighten, release. See if that helps.

If it were I, if I were going to go through the trouble of taking the rear end apart I would go to at least 3.42 range. I suspect you have an auto trans? I have the 3.07's in my "94", and wouldn't mind having a little taller gears.
