    Failed emissions inspection

Be sure to warm up your car good before you have it inspected. Don't just let it idle to warm up, you need to run it at a constant 2500 - 300 rpm just before going on the machine for the test. I surely would use a different testing station. Good Luck!

    values on corvettes going down?

All of us C4 & C5 owners took a pretty big hit when the C6's came out. It's easy to figure out why, the C6 sells for what (MSRP) the C5 sold for new, so the "04" dropped in value, and pushed everything else down. Plus the fact is that thee is a lot of C4's & C5's around. The early C3's are on...

    The Wave

Remo, For some reason you seem to be taking this way to personal, and don't read what I have said. My comments were never intended to be an attack on C5 owners. There are enthusisast in each and every generation of Corvette. I think, again just my opinion, that just by subscribing to this...

    The Wave

I agree with you fully. Most Vette drivers wave, most C5 drivers wave, but a higher percentage of those who don't wave are C5 drivers, and I think it is for the reason I have stated. I think it is our job to educate them, if everyone keeps waving at them, they'll either figure it out on their...

    The Wave

Published data? Scientific study? If you read what I have said, it's not all C5 drivers, nor have I used the term "most", but I have found that there are a higher number of C5 drivers who don't wave than what I have observed from other generations of vette owners. What I have found myself, not...

    The Wave

I still say it is not a matter of C5 owners being snooty, it is just that many of them are not true Corvette enthusiast, they just like the cool fast car. They haven't gotten the whole experience yet. Many of them never will. I'll keep a waving.:w

    Disgruntled..... Emissions troubles

Have you check in the seats? Years ago I used to do custom auto upholstry, and in almost every car a build sheet would be in one of the seats. I will be tearing mine down in the next couple of weeks to redo, if I find my sheet inside I'll let you know. If it where I, I'd realy like to know if I...

    Disgruntled..... Emissions troubles

Hi, You didn't mention by how much it is failling the test by. A new air filter or recharged K&N air filter might help. I always chnged the oil before I do the smog test, pvc valve. Just some things to look at if it is just missing.

    The Wave

I think a lot of you are on to what is happening. Many of the people that own C5's, have them because they are a cool, fast, ride, and have no idea about what Corvetting is all about. Some will come around in time, others will sell their Vette in a couple of years, and never understand what all...

    My first Corvette

Welcome to CAC. I would suggest that you map out what you would like to eventually do tot he car, then do your reseasrc to see how to obtain your objectives. This is usually the best place to start as many here have been there... done that... and will save you a lot of time and money. Go out...

Need some opinions on C4's please...

I would say it all depends on what you plan to do with the car. I love my "94", but I have spent a LOT of money on engine mods to get the car where I want it to be performance wise. If you are into modifying your car, I'd probably go with the 91, with the L98 engine, there are many more options...

    New Steering Wheel....

I know it wont be perfect, in fact the color will be grey, and my car is silver, but my wheel it totally trashed, and as you mentioned $200 is a lot of mula. I am spending the dough on carpets, seats, and a new set of visors. If it works out ok, cool, if not I'll save my pennies for a matching...

    New Steering Wheel....

Has anyone tried to rewrap one themselves? I just bought the leather kit on ebay, and am going to try it myself. It was $29. + shipping. I used to do this kind of thing years ago, aso I did custom car interiors, but I never rewraped a wheel before. :w

    Lookin To Buy A Corvette

You should be able to find a 74-81 project car for the money you are talking. I purchased one for under $4k, but I was willing to do some work. The car is running, and looks good from 20 feet, but needs paint, interior, needed brakes, and a new carb, and a good tune up. It's now a rolling...

    Cam Specs?

Good News! Good news, it was not the head after all. This was the weirdest thing I have ever seen on a call, I think you'd have to have seen it to believe it. The upper heater hose split, and was shooting a water stream off of the smog pump bracket, which deflected a small stream onto the head...

    Cam Specs?

Does anyone know what the cam specks are for a stock L81? I may have a cracked head :mad , if I have to tear it down that far, I may go a bit further and upgrade the cam...Any thoughts? Thanks, Gary
