may still be a bad alternator a rebuild or new only means just that not that it is working . I have installed many new or rebuilt parts that were junk . but do not rule out a wiring issue just my 2 cents Steve
battery butler has maintenence float chargers and would probably be ok for both of them. you could contact them via the web they are short money I have 4 of them and they seem to work fine Steve
I feel your pain :cry almost lost my 69 to a short in the car wiring and to boot the 61 was right beside it probably would have lost the barn and had house damage. it was a fluke that I came upon it before it was an uncontrollable mess . I was just very lucky :W all the cars have battery cuttoff...
I have done quite a few tops and i do not see any way to replace these and save the old top it would be quite a project and the top is probably brittle by now and would probably rip but best of luck if you try Steve
grind the other side of the pin off and knock it through .you need the pins that are closest to the size that was in there they are the saftey and keep the joint together if there is a failure like you just had Steve
I have used quite a few of the kits and lock-tite the bolts . the rubber pieces were all reinforced but you do bring up a valid point as to checking quality of the kit Just my 2 cents Steve
As peer 81 has said the kit is available for rebuilding this joint it may still be a good idea to check the box if it has many miles on it but you will see a gigantic difference with the new joint kit installed Steve
like motor man said there is a varnish build up on the shaft .spray some gumout in the holes in the bottom of the dist and keep working the shaft up and down it will free up eventually. good luck steve
sounds like the compressor is starting to fail. or possible over charge was it converted to 134? if so it should only be charged to approx 75% of the charge that is recommened for r-12 . also an oil change over is in order r-134 uses a different oil good luck Steve
