I think I would use the diesel oil at least for break in:ohnoes . till the lifters and cam wear in and burnish their surfaces then switch, you would not need the whole can of eos to get protection a few ounces would make all the difference.:w steve
A lot of people are using diesel oil in the older cars ;). the oil has more anti wear properties built in than the new oils .this is because of the cat converters on new cars get contaminated with the zinc etc :ohnoesthat was in the old blend. you can still use the synthetic oils and the new...

I have 3:70 in my 69 i believe it is about 3,200 at aprox 65 to70 :ugh. I like the 3:55 myself it seems like a pretty good all around gear. not as hard on the motor on the highway and winds up nice around town ;) Steve
It could be as simple as lubing the speedo cable :) it may be binding up. the worst case senerio would be the bearings in the speedo head:ohnoes and it would need to be removed for repair
totally different animals one is for tuned port and the other is for lt1. the operating systems are not the same do not even think it will plug in . wouldn,t waste the time just repair the problems you have and be done with it Steve
there are gaskets out there you can use .From the factory no gaskets were used but over time and with exhaust leaks ,rust etc :ugha gasket may be a band-aid for an irregular surface I have used the aluminum and copper with good results they are one piece the paper and metal ones do not hold...
may be all wet here but i have done quitw a few optis and have not had to remove the balancer pulley;shrug but they were earlier cars just my 2 cents Steve
