    try some BG LS1 rear diff additive I have had very good results with this additive in stubborn chatter problems it would probably be about 15 dollars , if the unit does not need a rebuild this additive has worked great for me Steve

    like grumpy said if you get the wrong inspector it could be a pita most states with in depth inspections are supposed to do a visual inspection if parts are missing it is a fail , you could gut the pump and have just about the same effect as the idler and a visual would pass;) steve

    the a.i.r. pump is mainly for cold start warm up of the cat converter it blows air into the cat to make it lite off it is the same as a bellows blowing on a fire . only works at cold start :upthumbs Steve

    the ones on top need to be bled one on the inside and one on the outside . I have seen bleeders on the bottoms before just a half a--ed rebuild i guess . but there is 2 on the rear one on the front all on top :w Steve

    I have seen it a couple of times once in 2 pieces and 1 time in 3 that one fell into the crank not a pretty picture :puke steve

    why would you want to go backwards fuel injection is the only way to go or stay with ,carbs are ok for the older cars but there are still conversions out there to EFI for older cars steve

    the stock carb would be the best. rebuild it or have a tuner do it it is the best bang for the buck.it is made for the car and can be made into a good performer Steve

    How much refrigerant oil???

    I would not add more tha a couple of ounces. If there is to much oil than there is not enough room for freon and the system will not work properly.You probably did not lose as much as you think but with the age and failure 2 ounces should be plenty just my 2 cents Steve

    the high side pressures should always be checked to make sure the system is operating correctly and that the cooling fans are doing their job high side pressure out of spec is sure fire death for a replacement compressor Steve

    I agree with all the above statements. if he is at all handy he can still check out the electrical end of it just because the compressor does not engage it does not make it is bad and if the cycling switch is bad it can be changed with out emptying the system. saftey is first when fooling with...

    it is on the accumulator next to the heater box it is an off on switch you could check it with an ohm meter should be closed with a full charge you need to get a wiring diagram to complete you diagnosis my guess is the commpressor is probably ok just need to do some home work Steve
